    Hi,

Just wanted to let you know about a new space game you might be interested in ;) Starfall Tactics is a unique blend of RTS and wargame genres where you can create a custom space fleet, lead it into battle and fight for control of the galaxy.

Thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 4, combat is epic and incredibly detailed. It also provides a highly tactical experience. Things like real-time projectile impact, line of fire, and ship collision have been implemented precisely for this reason: to help you create interesting scenarios on the battlefield.

The game also boasts an in-depth cutomization system that allows you to come up with unique ship builds. Everything in Starfall Tactics, from the hull of your ship down to the individual engines, is created using blueprints. Players can easily customize and outfit vessels, adapting their tactics for a variety of situations.

Starfall Tactics is currently live on Kickstarter. Check out the KS page and back it now to receive some really cool and exotic rewards ;)

Here are some "Work in progress" news for you to pass the time. Take a look on new ships and battle UI for Starfall Tactics:

Battle UI has been finally reshaped - this time we've tried to make it a little bit more pragmatic and customizable.

Our 2D artist is currently working on some super secret and super cool stuff about which we won't talk now - let it be a great surprise for you in the future! Instead, we'd love to present to you another great ship.

You can also see some new early concepts of incoming ships for each faction. Watch carefully, maybe one day these ships will blow away your fleet!

You can read full news here. Hope you enjoyed!

Hold on for a moment, space warriors: it's time to talk about shields and ships in a new Work in Progress article!

    Shields

What do you really know about shields? In general it's simply a type of armor used to protect and intercept incoming damage, but in Starfall Tactics that's not just a bunch of wood and metal: shields are those special modules which can dazzle your opponents by it's awesome ability to glow on hit.

In general, your ship's life depends on three elements: shields and armor are designed to protect hull - once it's hitpoints are zero you'll see your favorite ship exploding and falling apart. At the same time, there are different types of weapon damage - one will crash shields, another one directly hits armor. The main thing about shields is that they take certain types of damage and regenerate over time so you could survive in the heart of fierce battles a little bit longer. Once you've equipped special shield modules, you'll become a harder target for a single enemy ship - logically you'll need more focus fire or will have to choose appropriate type of weapon to kill an enemy with a high shield defense level. Of course, vessels with a good protection might lose several points in damage, maneuvering or movement speed as you need more slots to get enough shield modules.

Along with other special modules and abilities shields will provide a plenty of tactical choices.

    Ships

And, today's mystery: try to guess where's this ship's forepart and get shocked or just say "it was obvious". Otherwise, if you don't want to cudgel your brains over this riddle, just look at the base texture of it showing ship's hindquarters in the foreground.

To be serious, the beauty of this ship is evident - whether you liked that strange Deprieved ships or awaiting for a red Vanguard team, this simple, organic and, at the same time, detailed Eclipse vessel will catch your sight. Being chosen for a solemn mission of defeating your opponents Regent is going to be competitive and will bear its name with pride through a neverending universe of war.

Looks like somebody loves Eclipse - another great ship for this faction, dreadnought Premier, is going to be really huge - it's about 1000 meters wide for now. Just take a look on these sketches and try not to forget that other factions are also cute ones.

You can also watch for updates from our 2D and 3D artists in the special forum section.

    Do you love good backstories?

There were some questions about Starfall Tactics lore in the past, which should be covered. As you might know from starting page of our website, Earth became unsuitable for life and a huge part of population was evacuated to Ancora, the nearest planet fit for terramorphing. But what could lie behind this short sentence - years of despair, mind wars, great inventions or something else? We all love cool backstories and hope you do so, because this month we are going to tell you the thrilling beginning of this sci-fi future you can experience in Starfall Tactics.

    See ya :)

Go deeper into the Starfall Tactics features with us today! We are ready to drop some details about things you need to consider while creating mega-super-unique tactics. Don't forget to use all available opportunities wisely or you will get crashed by opponents seeking higher place on the leaderboards!

Warpbeacons, control points and other objects

Our 2D and 3D artists are busy with creating some stuff you might notice one day in Starfall Tactics. Or might not. It's all made for different purposes and game modes - for now we settled on the first one from the left, but with a satellite dish strapped to the side. It still has a long way to go, but it's probably the most obvious choice - other sketches could work in another way as we still have lots of ideas to go.

So, the chosen one will also be used in different ways. We are currently working on Mothership mode where strategic points play a very important role: by capturing it you gain additional resource for spawning new ships. The more ships you spawn, the more opportunities you might get to control the map - but don't spread forces as leaving the Mothership without any defense and letting an enemy destroy it will automatically result in a loss of match. Although warping ships back can be safe in this type of situation, it still takes some time, which could be enough for the enemy to deal damage and pool additional forces.

Here you can take a look at our new cool warp animation and a giant mothership from this mode.

    New Vanguard ship

And what's an article without new ship models? Look at this Vanguard ship, Tornhelm, on it's way to the Starfall Tactics universe - born to kill from the first sight! Hope you see it one day finished and in-game :)

We still have many things to do and really hope that everybody who's going to experience Starfall Tactics will get what they expected!

Hey, we have some news to share with you - don't miss it because it's going to make your days even more exciting! We're going to show you more models and say a few words about one of Starfall Tactics' features.

    Explosions

Yes, explosions! Those bright things which provide tones of happiness to you or your opponent. In many cases, explosions are made only for showing a ship's death visually, but this time we decided to let the ships explode for real. That means applying damage to nearby ships in some cases and, we hope, it may result in many cases of self-sacrifice tactics so players could benefit even from a lost ship. You also might have heard about self-destruction modules which will help you in the neverending battles of epic explosions.

We have lots of things to do with this feature so just look at this ship falling apart, enjoy and let us know your thoughts about explosions!

    [IMG][IMG]

    Ships

In our last article we told you about control points. As we showed only some basic sketches of Tornhelm and Control point we'd love you to take a look at some textured samples as it clarifies what we really want to get in the end.

    [IMG][IMG]

Those ships are not our only guests today - let's pay attention to Premier, one of the biggest ships of Eclipse, which you could see in sketches before. Sometimes it looks so epic, that our 2D artist calls it a «spacecity», as «spaceship» is no longer a proper term for this vessel.

UI, explosions, effects, backgrounds, ships, etc. - all these things should collaborate together, both in terms of beauty and gameplay. Not only are we going to achieve this synergy, but you must know another important thing:

We make Starfall Tactics with love and hope that whoever will start playing the game in the future is going to feel the meaning of these words, as delivering this project to you means a lot for our team.

More 3D models today for you! Don't hesitate to read this short article or just watch a hypnotizing turret gif, Premier and Tarnhelm ships in all their beauty.

    Turrets

Say "Hello!" to a friendly turret making it's first step into this cruel world. Being not as cute as it looks, in Starfall Tactics these nice things help blowing away your enemies by firing and trying to not get broken up. Obviously, broken turrets can't shoot, so take care of it and it'll pay you back by defeating several opponents.

    Premier

Here is a full 3D model of Eclipse dreadnought which you could see in previous WIP articles and now it's ready to entertain you by showing all the details. Just touch and move Premier to watch carefully every single part of it.

    Tarnhelm

Tarnhelm, another ship mentioned before, is a large vessel belonging to Vanguard faction and covered with red, the color of war and fire. Spend some time to look at this dazzlingly beautiful model and wait for Starfall Tactics' tests or release to get it in-game!

As Premier and Tarnhelm have finally made it's long way into the game, we hope on showing and telling you more interesting things next week. We also welcome all thoughts about Starfall Tactics - don't forget to visit our forum section as you can find some information there.

Hey, it's WIP time again! We' d love to show you several models of nerve-recking small ships, which will bring a piece of chaos to the battlefield by moving quickly through it and annoying everybody.

    Ships

This time we present you two ships: Bruno (Deprived) and Talaria (Vanguard).

As we've decided to take a break from giant ships and try something smaller for a change, these two are really tiny in respect to Premier, for example. But that doesn't mean they can't cause even more troubles sometimes: it's definitely more difficult to catch a smaller but faster and more maneuverable ship which is hard to target, then slowly destroy a hulking dreadnought. So, take a look at these little devils - both are in very early development stages on these screenshots:

Good news for all who love it: we've joined Sketchfab so don't forget to check it for new models and like us! Here is a full model of Bruno ship - it's form seems to be a little bit strange, but what else can you expect from a race which has been living in a radioactive wasteland for many years?

Talaria, Vanguard ship in traditional red colors with a sheepish smile, also looks great:

    Solomon

Although it looks more like a spaceship than Bruno, they have some things in common. These ships, both of them, are obiously designed by the same talanted men. Here is only a sketch as we're working on it, giving a long and exciting life to Solomon, but it's already worth to be seen:

Hope you like it. Don't stay away - go to the forums and tell us which ship you love most!

Your game looks terrific, looking forward to a playable demo!

Couple of minor nits. The English on your site is stilted - you are trying to tell a story to get me interested. I'd either simplify the story or see if you can get some help telling it. Second the drop shadow on the text at the top of the site, to my old programmer eyes, looks blurry. I'd drop the effect or choose colors that don't create that blur effect.

Cheers from Starfall Tactics Team! Step forward and look at your future best friends which will fight for you forever! Well, at least, unless it's destroyed by a stronger opponent.

    Solomon

Why always ships, you ask? Because it's a spacegame which can't exist without epic spaceships furrowing the vast of the Universe and we would be cruel if we didn't do it in the best way we can.

So just watch Solomon coming from sketch and base textures to it's finished state and be sure to read some previous articles and watch all 3D models available.

Here is a 3D model of Solomon and you might notice that these giant goofy engines can somehow remind you of Bruno, another Deprived ship:

    Logan

Logan is an Eclipse vessel which represents a class of those middle-sized ships, which have enough power to cause a lot of troubles to you or your enemies. Never underestimate it and try to consider every fleet unit to avoid several unpleasant surprises Logan is definitely capable of.

    Mjolnir

As other factions' dreadnoughts are done for now, Mjolnir is here. This huge spaceship is going to be the next challenge for those who dare fight against Vanguard, bursting into battle like a famous hammer of the same name, reducing all enemies to jelly.

Just to pass the time, which runs so fast that we can't catch it anyway, we advise you on checking out our forums! Development process is going full spead ahead and Starfall Tactics looks better with every day, and we are always ready to answer some curious questions.

Prepare for the battle and get your skills in as your tactical advantage could be beaten in a second by wise decisions made just in time.

Greetings, space captains, commanders, pirates, Vanguard, Eclipse and Deprived members and everybody who has enough courage to join the battle! We're back after a short break with a new portion of Work in Progress news. This time main topic of our news post is guns.

    Guns

Ships are moving, capturing points, fighting, exploding, warping and can easily be customized. Everything is great! Hey, hold on for a moment - what about guns?! Well, we do have one friendly turret which perfectly fits some ships, but that's definitely not enough. So we are designing and preparing other stuff which helps you in pointing missiles at enemy ships.

These are mostly just for use in blueprint card graphics and interface icons - in real battles you will basically see just barrels. Although designing guns corresponding to grid sizes like 1x1 and 4x1 was a bit tricky, everything turned out well.
For now Starfall Tactics lets you choose from about 16 weapon types such as Lasers, Guns, Plasma and Blaster Cannons, Rocket and Torpedo Launchers. They differ in many ways: type of damage, range, size, capacity, dps, tech points cost and recharge rate. These features allow to adapt space flotilla to various challenges choosing your own strategy!

    Mining Station

Space is usually imagined as something empty and dark. In Starfall Tactics it's filled with ships providing some action, control points and other stuff like asteroids making it all more friendly, if you could say a word like this in a war-torn galaxy. Today we show you Mining Stations - big technological constructions made for gathering valuable resources from asteroids.

    Vanguard dreadnought

Mjolnir is a huge dreadnought which takes a lot of time from creators so it still has a long way to go till it's ready. The middle of the ship is detailed so you can compare it with the front and the back part that will also be detailed but indeed features less intricate things.

Don't forget to check out news to see it done!

Wake up, get a cup of tea or coffee and read our weekly Work in Progress digest from cold Siberia. While dancing with bears and putting on another ushanka on our heads, we keep working on Starfall Tactics and adding more things for you to be amazed with. So, our ships will no longer shoot with default lasers - instead we added different effects so you could understand which type of guns your opponent uses by just looking at projectiles.

    Effects

You might remember what it all looked like from gameplay trailers and screenshots: bright laser lines shining in red, green and yellow trying to blow enemy ships into pieces. That's all nice, but who likes pulse lasers shooting like a plasma cannon? Not you, we believe. So it was replaced with adequate effects - now it just looks better, more like we want it to be, and does not shoot with potatoes or a rainbows. Hope you're going to love it!

    Blueprint

That's what you'll normally see in fleet editor while looking for a better ammunitions for your ship. Guns, shield generators, armor, warp-modules and all other stuff you will possibly see there is half of the strategy you shall plan on: functionality of every ship depends on the stuff you put into it and you are free in deciding what exactly will every unit in your fleet do.

Every ship in Starfall Tactics has a specialization which affects weapons you can equip, total amount of armor and shields you physically can put into it, quantity of engines providing general and maneuvering speed along with ability to add special modules without making your ship naked. Choose wisely and let your enemies shake in their shoes!

What could be better then a couple of silent minutes with Starfall Tactics news? Only hundreds of it spent in-game! Today, on Friday the 13th, in our 10th Work in Progress article, we talk about our launcher, module icons and ship blueprints.

    Launcher

As every online game, Starfall Tactics is going to have a special launcher with all the usual stuff, like Update/Play buttons, along with latest news and everyting else you would normally expect and we will ever want to add there. And we've made a mockup of what it will probably eventually look like:

So, here it is. Although you are going to see it only for few minutes or even seconds before pushing the "Play" button, we are going to make sure it feels and looks just right!

    Module icons

Although module icons might be not the most interesting thing to investigate, we'd love to present some just for you! Here we wanted to try out more MOBA-like thumbnails for our abilities, instead of going pure monochrome. At the same time, it can work well as we plan on having a lot of different module blueprints in our game and players will need a very clear and quickly-recognisable imagery to help them navigate the UI jungle.

That's what it looks like. Try to guess which action each icon represents and feel free to leave a comment at the forum!

    Ship Blueprints

Can't find a ship you need in a bunch of the same looking blueprints? Not a problem anymore! These epic pictures represent spaceships, letting you know easily which one you want to add to the fleet:

*Note that all descriptions and stats are subject to change.

    Look, they are awesome!

Stay in touch and don't forget to join the discussion in Starfall Tactics communities!

    Welcome, space captains!

We're happy to see you here today, reading fresh news and waiting for an alpha version of the game. While we are fixing bugs and preparing some interesting things to make Starfall Tactics experience even more exciting, you can look at some new screenshots!

    Fleet Editor

This week we've run several inner-circle tests and saved some interesting screenshots – today we're showing you a couple of them related to the Fleet Editor. In comparison to the old one, this time it shows all the information in more convenient and beautiful ways, ensuring you feel comfortable while assembling another super-vessel and planning out the winning strategy.

Ship customization process is an important part of building your strategy and can take a lot of players' time, to think through and find a module combination which will both satisfy their needs and fit general requirements, such as capacity and tech points cost. On the screenshot below you can see an Advisor equipped with beam weapons, shields, shield cells, armor, engines and warp module. In the left corner we present all technical information about it, on the top of screen you can see ship and fleet Tech Points cost, on the right side - all modules available to you, split into corresponding categories.

The fleet editor screen shows you which ships you have in your fleet along with providing necessary information about every single vessel – structure hitpoints, armor, shields and shields regeneration, dps, range, max and turn speed, TP cost, class – and, obviously, giving you the ability to add new ship or delete some.

So, that's what it all looks like at the moment. Although we hope you'll enjoy this version, we are not going to stop and will eventually add more functions you will need and make it all in the best possible way!

    Module blueprints

Do you remember a picture with different guns and modules? If not – just read one of our previous WIP articles here. It finally found it's way into Starfall Tactics – you can see it in blueprints and even on ships themselves. Several examples of blueprint cards are here just for you to enjoy:

    Projectile weapon

    Shields

    Beam weapon

*Note that all descriptions and stats are subject to change.

These examples represent just a very small part of what we plan on doing concerning blueprints. As diversity and wide customization ability are very important game features, we think on adding about 200 or more module blueprints at release and even more after it!

    Ahoy, commanders!

Your fleets will soon be able to join the battle for the control of the galaxy - make sure to choose your side and tell friends about Starfall Tactics. Also we always welcome any clans and gaming communities!

    PVE game mode

Although PVP is a main focus in Starfall Tactics, PVE is still a very important thing we can't miss out on. It's a place where you can test a fleet you've built, train your skills, earn additional experience, relax and feel as a God. At least for the first 2 minutes.

In our first pve mode you start off with a Mothership and some resources which can be spent on spawning one big ship or a few smaller ones. The main goal is to defend a Mothership from waves of different enemies who will try to destroy it, because if they succeed - the game match will automatically end.

In the begginning of each match you will need to choose a ship card from your fleet-deck which will protect your Mothership from first enemies, while at the same time capturing control points, which is important as it gives additional resources for spawning more ships. Each wave is stronger then the previous one, so your goal is to stand tall and survive for as long as possible, but take into account that even the first opponents can make you loose some ships if you are too lazy to properly control it and fail strategize quickly.

    So, what's it all about?
    • Prepare a fleet which can survive in long battles.
    • Select a couple of ships which will fisrt appear on the map from your deck.
    • Spawn and warp ships using points earned from capturing control points.
    • Defend Mothership and destroy as many enemies as you can.
    • Recharge ammo while near your Mothership and when out of combat.
    • Earn experience and in-game currency.
    • Become number one in pve rating!
This mode will not only let newcomers test their skills, but also is going to be a great challenge for those who consider themselves masters. So grab your sheeps, find a strategy and gain a rewarding rts&wargame experience with Starfall Tactics!

    Deprived Mothership

This tall and spiky Deprived mothership is made with a use of secret technology. Looks like a typical Deprieved ship, chaotically constructed from just what they had laying around, and is gonna be great, as always!

Mothership names are not something you'll probably even see for a while, but we still need to do it. The Vanguard one from our previous WIP is obviously Excalibur, as it actually kind of looks like a big stick that's stuck in the middle of something. But for this one, we were thinking of «Merlin», but then couldn't come up with a final decision, so we'll probably just call it Rasputin. Russian overtones are usually reserved for the Vanguard, but Rasputin was one tenacious and mystical son of a gun, making the name deserving of a Deprived ship.

This WIP article is dedicated to all who love explosions, kamikaze playstyle and green friendly drones: here we introduce a super module of self-destruction and a repairing tool.

    Self-destruction module

Equiping self-destruction module will deliver some unexpected troubles to enemies - at least if a kamikaze ship manages to get close enough to deal damage. It's obvious to make small ships with this module but if your tank or utility ship has free slots it can work as a very weighty "final word", turning the battle in your favor.

This skull is definitely having fun, making some great explosions and eating dozens of ships.

    Repairing drone

Ones who follow Starfall Tactics long enough might remember this friendly green drone. Now it gets a proper job - fixing broken ship equipment and repairing armor, which is a very important part of the strategy: use it wisely and it will help your ships return home in time without losing strategically important dreadnoughts. Just remember: nothing is done for free and this drone will take plenty resources for repairing ships.

In PvE mode you can just pay some points and push a button like this - it summons a repairing drone which has a limited lifetime and repairs selected ship.

Yes, that's the drone we are talking about and the one which will save your fleet's life!

Sometimes, while creating particular stuff for Starfall Tactics, we experience funny glitches. Of course, it's always fixed so players can just enjoy their playtime when it's done. But we're really sorry somebody can miss a chance to smile on this Friday and are happy to share a little part of Starfall Tactics' development history with the help of these crazy gifs.

Starfall Tactics' WIP article is here! While we are trying to dig out the snow drifts, you can read news about Starfall Tactics and discuss new modules and Vanguard Mothership at our forum.

    Vanguard Mothership

Red giant Excalibur, second Mothership, is one of the creations Vanguard engineers are proud of as it represents their hard military power in the best way and, from some points of view, can remind of a famous sword.

Vanguard Mothership plays just the same role as other ships from this class: it is an important object on the map you must not lose! Besides, Motherships allow you to spawn additional units, recharge ammo and get a repair drone - three things which will definitely help you survive in a long battles!

    EMP Module

To let the game be more diverse we continue creating modules, turning players' tactics in an unexpected direction and giving more opportunities and ways to express their personal playstyles. So, more special equipment has just been added to Starfall Tactics, and the first one is the EMP module.

The EMP module gives you an advantage when fighting against ships with tones of shields and regeneration cells: it immediately takes off a fixed amount of energy shields from all ships in target area. Although it still can't destroy regeneration cells, this module gives an opportunity to deal with some hard-shielded enemies faster, which of course means taking less damage from a rival's fleet.

    Plasma web Module

Plasma web helps deal with a swarm of small ships, like Talaria or Bruno, by continuously damaging every target in a specific area and will also probably get an additional slow effect in future. In combination with the EMP module it can work like a real bomb. But take into account that it costs a significant amount of ship's capacity and fleet points.

This spider is ready to spread out his nets and catch some delicious vessels - just get a proper strategy and ship to equip it!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Starfall Tactics' Team! Thanks for bearing with us so much - we hope to start playing together with you in 2016, so don't miss the announcement ;)

Despite the holidays, we keep working hard to make the game polished enough for showing it off in Closed Alpha. This week we've polished some features like explosions, ship selection, destruction and modification and are happy to show you a fresh screenshot from pvp mode.

Deprived Solomon fleet is trying to defend a control point near the Mothership from powerful Premier with a couple of smaller ships.

    Deprived Mothership

Rasputin is the third Mothership: being amazing through its chaotic forms and attracting envious glances from enemies, this Mothership stands with Millenium and Excalibur forcing great minds to puzzle over its structure. Even Eclipse's scientists are stuck with their researches of Deprived technologies that help keep on par with the great corporation and military faction, in this long space war.

    Factions

We keep adding some important elements and content to Starfall Tactics: from now on, as we have enough ships for Vanguard, Eclipse and Deprived, you will be allowed to choose a faction for you fleet - one fleet can have ships only from a chosen faction.

At the same time, you can see a few characteristics in the bottom: each faction has an advantage and a disadvantage. For example, Eclipse tend to rely on energy shields and include them into basic ship structure - of course, it has some negative effect on ships' capacity, keeping all stuff in balance.

Although there is a slight chance that there will be changes, you can start thinking about choosing your starter faction right now!

Hey commanders, we are back after winter holidays feeling rested and ready to move heaven and earth!

As you could have noticed, there are some changes on our website concerning Closed Alpha. It hasn't started yet and we don't accept applications right now, but we've just done some general preparations and held family&friends test which helped us find some general bugs and polish the game. Currenly we have sheduled Closed Alpha for Q1 2016 and are going to prepare a very huge and interesting part of content. Here is just a small update on upcoming ships for you to enjoy.

    Hope

As you could have missed our last sketchfab update, we present to you the Hope. Being very small and quick, this Eclipse ship can serve as a small spy, spotting enemy locations and giving vision to long range dreadnoughts, or be the one jumpy thing you can't catch with leasurely turning giants.

Most of you will consider Hope a typical human feeling, finding this shipname a very symbolic and good fit for such a tiny vessel. It can work, but to be honest, this ship is named after the Hope Diamond, which is a famous gem stone...unfortunately, nobody will keep it in mind.

    Salem

Constructions of Deprived ships seem to be very unusual, drawing attention with the chaotic power they represent, which is something everybody shall definitely be aware of. So does the Salem, new mighty battleship from the underground geniuses.

Choosing this battleship to be fleet's main power will cost you a significant amount of Tech Points, limiting the number of copies you can add but rewarding with a hard assault arm.

    Helskor

And we are just in time to make another tiny Vanguard ship, which is going to be even faster than shark-like smiling Talaria. Helskor, just as a little red bee, will quickly move from one side of the map to another, bringing some good or bad news to the fleet commander and making your worst dreams come true.

There are some other changes and interesting stuff for you to discover in the next WIP article, so don't forget to check it next week!
