So while I make a lot of games and am always working on like 3 at a time, I never really market them very well. I am hearing that bugging 'review people' about reviewing your game (youtube, blog, whatever) is a good way to go.

So ... how the hell do you do this? Where do you start? Anyone have any suggestions of reviewers to bug?

I would suggest looking through the top 100 YouTube search results for "lets play". There are often ways to content them and if you give out free codes, all you need is one person to release a video to really boost your viewership.

Realistically its just Boots to the ground repetition.

Thanks. I'll start a list. All my games are free, so free codes are not needed.

    sorry but i m a little confused^^
what do you mean to do with "start a list"?
the second post means you let us know if your efforts to get one or some of the lets players to show your games? ( i would really like to know about it)

    thoughts regarding your question:
I think a lot of the top 100 just play "big" games as they are better to get attention, so i would check which of them play indie games, too. I would also try to contact some little but serious and established youtubers (i think 1000 viewers are allready a big crowd if you getthem to play your game).
I think youtubers which are likely to show your game by there history which shows if heyare into indie gaming. I know there are big letsplayers too which are into indie games, but it might beharder to get their attention because more people ask them to play their games.
So sumedup i would suggest to checkthe history of the youtubers and to try youtubers of different levels of views.

    greetings
    Os

I sent out about 40 emails. I am tracking who responds, and who is a douche.

1000 viewers are not nearly enough. Think that only 5% of that (at best) will actually check out your game - the % of people who will download it is even smaller. If the game is for sale? You'll be looking at 1-2 sales at best.

Of couse, if you get 10 youtubers, with 1000 viewers each to review your game, that's another story. But don't think a single one, with 1000 viewers will make any difference in your download/sales :(

That's sad. I had hopped that the percentage would have been higher because of a specialized community:(

Well, it's coming along. I have been working all weekend on building it. I have pretty much set up the ability to register, post an 'announcement', and still working out the kinks of posting a 'project'. There's a lot to do still, and I'm trying to figure out a good cut-off point between what will be needed for V1.0 and V2.0.

I'm adding a feature I hope people like called Indy's Arcade. It will only feature some of my games (I made a lot of small arcade games that will be Flash based) (I hope people don't see this as just a way to play my games ... there is a point to them being there). Playing the games will earn you 'Beans' (website currency) (I have a weird sense of humor) which you can later trade in for prime advertising space, royalty free music, and other things which are still in development. You can also compete to be the Weekly Champion who gets an ad for their game at the top of every page on the website for a whole week. All work in progress. All possible.

I'm also still waiting for the internet too cooperate. The DNS servers are still pointing at the wrong place. This domain transfer has taken almost two weeks and is quite a hassle.
