For those of you here who use RegNow ecommerce services, I have two questions I'd be glad if you could help me with. First, RegNow states it charges: "Download delivery option: one cent per 1 MB transferred" Does this mean, it charges everytime someone downloads your game from their server through the affiliate channels? For example, if some affiliate site is advertising your game, and the customer clicks "Download", you get charged for it at the above rate? This would mean that if your game is 5 Mb, you pay 5 cents for every game downloaded; and at 1% conversion rate, you get charged $5 per game!! This doesn't make sense. Can anyone here explain what they mean? Also, does RegNow cover the cost of credit card chargebacks or do they transfer the burden onto you? That would be really, really bad. Thanks.
Not for demo downloads I currently use regnow as my only payment provider. I think the 1 cent per MB of download bandwidth is for full version downloads only. Regnow provides an expiring link option to paying customers to directly download the full version of your software. Otherwise, like you pointed out, this feature doesn't make too much sense. About the refund issue, you take a 16% hit for a refund.
They wouldn't take the hit for refunds. I don't know of any ecommerce provider that does. Seeing as you usually have the control over who gets refunds, they are going to make you pay for it.
Clarification... I don't mean refunds, but chargebacks. The credit card company charges a special fee for each chargeback, and I am wondering whether Regnow foots the bill or passes it onto you. Other ecommerce providers, like esellerate, foots the bill. Thanks.
In another thread you're asking advice on how to code. Are you actually anywhere near a finished game? If not then worry about all the payment processer and stuff later.
