Orcs And Aliens is an RTS that's now in pre-release.

I'd be interested to hear any feedback on the game itself, the website, installer, etc...

    System requirements are pretty minimal:
    Windows 2000 or later
    1 GB
    Intel HD Graphics or better
    1024x768

    Website: http://redbrickgames.com
    Direct download: redbrickgames.com/download/OrcsAndAliens-setup.exe

    Thanks!

    Hey there,
I used to follow your blog almost 2-3 years ago. Your blog inspired me to design my own RTS game. Did you still use the Torque engine to complete the game?
Your link to the demo file does not work. Looking forward to the game.

    Ok, link fixed.
Cool, glad to hear the blog was useful! What RTS did you make? Yes, I did stay with the venerable Torque engine (the original, not Torque3D).

i haven't played this but i love rts's and have played alot of them, and i have never seen the auto explore feature. i have wished for such a thing, it's usually real-time path setting for that which gets annoying...

renewable resources is another winner, but unlimited upgrades? i always thought rts's needed something to balance game play because its always who can collect most resources wins. i'd like to see one that gives the underdeveloped player a chance.

Just designed a game, attempted to make it, but failed miserably. Anyways, I shall download your game and have a go.

I love auto-explore too. I remember that Empire Earth 2 also had that feature, but it didn't work too well. Towards the end of an EE2 game, auto-explore units would just walk past enemies without firing at them.

I hear you, Orcs And Aliens was a way, way bigger effort than I originally planned. At least, after all that effort, I enjoy playing it.

Looks really nice! If I were on PC (or had Bootcamp), I'd definitely give it a go!

    Best of luck,

    Nate

Finally found some spare time to play the game. A few comments.

    - You could improve the game icon and logo on the loading screen.
    - The battle unit can attack its own building. Was fun for a while.
    - The replay feature is really nice.
    - An in-game option to save the game would be nice, unless of-course I missed it.

It's the matchup everyone has been waiting for since Pirates and Ninjas.

    Made a few updates:
    * improved some artwork
    * fixed an intermittent crash on exit (...grumble grumble OpenAL)
    * fixed a terrain bug in multiplayer games

Multiplayer is still a little unrefined during connection and disconnection, but everything else should be solid.
