I'm replying since feedback is better than just a simple yes or no. It's a good idea in my opinion since this would be something "different". Anyone can make a medieval 8bit multiplayer RPG, but how many people make 8bit multiplayer SCHOOL rpgs?! Hardly any, unless you look on "Byond", and even then, those are pretty mediocre and lacking. This is a definite yes in my book for uniqueness or scarcity.

12-Bit could work. Honestly, it'll be up to how you want your game to look personally.

The real question here isn't whether it's a good idea or not, it's whether you think you can deliver something fun that players will enjoy.

The 8-bit genre style isn't dead by any standpoint, so you won't lose people for that. As long as you feel that you and your team can make this game shine, don't let anyone deter you from making it.

I'm sorry to hear that man... How much work had been done?

Also, don't be like me and trash the project. You can stop working on it sure, but never...never delete it. It was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made, and I don't want it to happen to you as well.

Reason being, is one day, what if you want to work on it again? This has happened to me 3 times. I have sworn never to delete a project I was working on again.

But perhaps just put the project on the side, to be possibly worked on again in the future. The idea still sounds pretty great. Even if you don't have a large team to do it with, it could still be done.

Oh no, please don't trash your sprites. Just store them somewhere safe for a possible later use. You may regret deleting them in the future.
