    Hi
I guess I don't need to introduce cliffski here :D but just in case:

We didn't talk much about game development, but a lot about selling games. It's worth reading. You may not agree with everything that cliffski says, but you can't say that his over $200k worth of sales are not impressive.

    cheers
    Roman

Great interview! I especially like how he highlights A) the importance of being difficult to copy and B) the importance of putting real effort into marketing.

I'm surprised at his prediction of Popcap surviving the casual meltdown. They don't seem that big of player anymore and their business model seems to be milking the same 4 or 5 properties over and over onto new platforms. How long can that last before BFG or someone just buys them out?

They don't rely on any portal for sales & can negotiate things the average developer can't. IE: Bejeweled Twist was featured on gamehouse, but not available as a funpass discount

I'll second cliffski's Dragons Den recommendation - it's a great way to learn a bit more about the business side of things :)

Two things I found most interesting...

    - "I put quite a lot of work into promoting them. I also get very into the business side of selling games". Many people think they simply make something (game, website, etc) and that is the end of it, but really that's just the start. The business end is where a lot of fruit can be had.

    - Every Cliff picture seems to either have a knife, bow-n-arrow, etc. Pirates beware!

it's a TV show. You have like a jury of 4 respected entrepreneur listening to some random bloke trying to convince them to finance their start-up or project. Good show.

    Awesome interview Roman, nice work!

Sounds like a great show, which means we probably don't have it here in the US. *sigh*
