I've been a big fan of setting goals and posting them publicly has been effective for me over the years, as I'm sure it has also been for other fellow members as well. 2010 not only marks a new year but also the start to a new decade, what are your ambitions and goals?

To begin, as specific and measurable as possible, my goals for 2010:

    1. Generate $1,000,000 in revenue
    2. Business is self sustainable (All my work can be delegated out effectively)
    3. Exercise at least 3 times a week

    Previous years: 2009 2008 2007 2006

2009 Review (inc. mistakes) is here:

    http://greyaliengames.com/blog/2009-review-and-2010-goals/

    Here's my 2010 goals:

    1) Finish recently started secret BFG project and watch it make tons of money.
    2) Release a top 10 download title (in progress).
    3) Get married (in Spring or Summer)
    4) Complete 9 more toastmasters speeches so I get the competent communicator award.
    5) Get a Canadian driving license (my partner drives the car because my UK license is not valid here!)
    6) Build up my Aikido club, get some decent mats, and become profitable as a club.
    7) Build up my health and fitness more.
8 ) Improve life work balance.
    9) Sort out my looming tax situation. (It’s complicated having to do tax returns in two countries.)

    - get cracking on this latest prototype.
    - let go of my anxiety over the natural decline of sales of my last game.
    - build the best team yet for my next game.
    - ship before that day in Feb when my brains settled on this new project and break my 3 year development curse. (ahem, not counting time spent on the previous designs explored, ahem)

    - Keep an eye out for that ship of rare fortune that continues to haunt my horizon, and signal it to make port.

    1) release 5 games
    2) make my first online-only game in python
    3) maybe hire someone to make my first browser/flash game :D
    4) experiment with Unity3d and release something (even freeware) so I didn't waste $250 to buy the indie version
    5) keep raising my overall yearly revenue as totally independent, but maybe finally get one of my games on a big portal (casual or not)

    1) Achieve a regular / less sporadic income.

    2) Release more then 1 (maybe 3) quality game in a year (never done more then 1 in all my years doing this (not even a bad one), even though the content level sometimes suggests I can).

2b) Since it's linked to 2), stay more focussed and stick to active project until completion.

    3) Achieve a total of 1,000,000+ plays on 1 or more game(s).

    4) (Somewhat dependent on Adobe and cs5) Create successful content for the iphone and download spaces based on current and / or new IP.

    5) Explore, Solidify & clean-up other ventures where valid.

    edit 1 (3rd Jan 010):
    6) Create 1 - 3+ quality custom soundtracks via FL Studio (For game music naturally)

    7) Practice the 10% rule. ;)

    edit 2 (15th Jan 010)
    8) Complete 3 - 5 games (my hard-drive will like this one!)

That's all I can think of (or at least dare to share) for now... :)

Oh, Happy and Prosperous New Year everyone! Let's own the big 10!

    In 2010 I will...

    1. Finish my game.

OK, so the chance of development running into its 4th year is remote - and if it does I'll most probably shoot myself, so this one should be easy to achieve as I'm expecting completion within Q1.

As failure of goal #1 (again) is not an option this time, I'm not even going to bother with anything else for now. Maybe I'll make some more goals later.

    1. Create enough real passive income so that even if we don't begin any new projects in 2011 the company will still be profitable.
    2. Complete the game that we are working on with a publisher and hopefully complete another one too
    3. Launch our new web-based flash game site/project in development and create lots of traffic to our site with it
    4. Launch our big web-based flash social game in development and make tons of money with it
    5. Release at least 8 iPhone games (unless we decide to stop doing them) and hit the top 100 on at least 2
    6. Launch our second social game (planned, development not started yet)
    7. Launch web application (non game related) in development
    8. Break our profit record
+. Release another social game/app (planned)
+. Complete at least 50% of our sports related game (planned).

Heh heh.. we've got so many projects between 20-90% complete that haven't been completed. 2010 is gonna be the year to complete them!!!

    1. Set improbable goals like make $100k USD from my games
    2. Sleep-in thereby not achieving goals
    3. Realize yet another Year of Fail.
    4. Repeat every year until the end of Decade of Fail in 2019

In the meantime I hope to:
Add an affiliate game sales page to Indie Flux
Add a flash games page (sort of a mini-portal to make money with) to IF
Add a monthly "newsletter" to Indie Flux
Possibly release Hypno-Joe on XBLIG albeit 5 years later than now.
Make a couple of prototypes which I could possibly turn into flash games.
