In response to simonh, I think it's a great idea to start a thread about your goals and share them with other folks on this board. Not only is it motivating for me, but also a good reinforcement when I have something public: As measurable as possible, my goals for 2007: Launch a casual title in first week of January (Completed) Go fulltime and earn over 100k this year ( Fulltime Completed, income reinvested into games ) Get second game funded and finished within 6-7 months (Completed) Launch at least 4 titles this year. Each game must be present on major portals (Two games done so far) Continue to better my relationship with publisher, developers, and freelancers (2007 better than 2006) ...more to come
I will make a mpmmmog (go send me to gamedev.net) in time-order as on my todo list - finish something called tinyIMS - finish that Alien Zze game - make flash version of some game from someone here.. - make fist few parts of Kubi with the new interesting approach - finish Bushes with user auth system and profiles and put it on TimeEaters.com - continue working on some mpmogy thing... ..... grey area.... allways active tasks - improve BKG add stuff - bulid up TimeEaters..
I hope that we finish our two current titles. One of them might touch the light of the day in February (at least I hope so), the other will surely take longer. But I'll try to be more efficient this year so I'll really reach my goals.
Todo: 1. Keep "outreaching" in the games community as much as time will allow 2. Avoid constant forum surfing 3. Be "productive" without shuffling paper from one pile to another. 4. Get Ubuntu setup on other dev box 5. Create and release a small game using Java to "test the crossplatform waters".. 6. Tweak the website
1. I will desperately strive to prevent my business from crumbling even though I only have <5 hours a week to dedicate to it. 2. I will try to find more than 5 hours a week to dedicate to my business 3. GET MORE TRAFFIC!!! 4. At least START a new game

1. Release PlayDetective for Windows. 2. Port it to many platforms; at least Mac, PockectPC, PalmOS, Symbian and maybe Linux and Brew.
Neat Idea these threads, and a laugh seeing how few people actually manage to achieve their goals. So, in a year's time I'll have -Released my multiplayer game, Nex, and have people playing it. -Released Starshard, a game I've been working on with another indie. -Made a profit -Not succumbed to the temptation of making a match-3 clone The first two should be achievable, but unfortunately the third point has so far been elusive.
I'm disappointed I didn't post last year so I could look back and be disappointed about all I didn't accomplish! this year I will: - not be disappointed....damn! - post here in this thread (check) - relax more (enjoy the ride as much as possible wherever it goes) - not read other peoples thoughts so much and work on my own (less automaton forum surfing and tripping into the internet infinity traps... more making things) - Have UnEarthed Gods finished and in the polishing stage by end of the year - Draw regularly and improve my art skills throughout the year
1. Quit job. 2. Move to Korea. 3. Release another 3 minigames. Before Flack finishes Cletus. 4. Make $4k/month revenues. Cas

Use techniques learned from the demoscene to compete visually with 2007's upcoming shooters with a comparatively miniscule development team. Learn how to talk to bees, and use this ability to steal their honey. Place as a finalist for IGF's 10th annual Excellence in Audio award (?) with "Galaxy Rage." Bring an artist into the company. Preferably someone who can draw. Think like a proper independent game developer. Pioneer the Open-Ended First-Person Rock Opera sub-genre. Don't think like a proper independent game developer. Place in Game Tunnel's 2007 GoTY: Top 5 Graphics (?) category with Galaxy Rage. Bring you quality video games for over 75 years. Be audacious. That's about it.
