does this exist? it appears tucows is a free place to submit software, are there other places to put my shareware/demo version that have next to no cost? id hate to have a huge out of pocket loss if no one buys but everyone downloads the demo... trying to limit the risk what do you people do to host your demos/unregistered copies?
Get 2nd level domain I think you should get 2nd level domain, it costs around ten bucks a year, I believe you can afford that. There is webhosting for 2nd level domains, like pipni.cz from my country, but you can find more of them. Good luck, Jiri Novotny Dextronet Team http://fclip.com
This isn't going to be a problem unless your game is either not worth buying. Most of the time, if you spend enough time marketing your product, you should easily be able to cover the cost of a webhost. Usually, you get what you pay for, and if you have a free or really low cost host, you're going to have site stability issues. Even tucows isn't free, unless you are willing to wait 60 days or so for them to review it, and are willing to take the chance they don't put it up.
I agree; downloads should be the least of your worries. For 20 GB of bandwidth, that is : 6,666 three-meg downloads, and if one user registers, that should pay off the bandwidth for the month. If none of them register, I would suggest quitting ;x You want as many downloads as possible!
