Yeah me too. Penny Arcade is not a big casual fan, but they have a big audience I gather so it will be interesting to see if the hardcore gamers can be swayed (I know lots that have been surprised by the game). Shame they didn't write more about it actually.

I'll report back if I notice a spike after next months royalty report (won't be able to detail any figures due to NDA of course).

It seems kind of pathetic that you can't reveal your own sales stats. :)

He made the game for BFG and since signed a NDA he can't speak, unless BFG authorize him.

Yeah it's standard practice that you can't reveal sales stats if you make games for portals (or even sell via them). For my own games I've revealed all my sales stats on GameProducer.net and my own blog. Not that many people reveal their sales stats but I always find it fascinating reading.

It has got to feel absolutely wonderful. You must be walking on cloud 9.

    Congratulations!

    Wow .. that's extremely cool!!

It's clear your game is top notch .. so many people like it .. yes you must be on cloud 9! :)

One of our games was mentioned on Penny Arcade once and it resulted in hundreds of direct sales in a few days.

So I predict you will definitely get a pretty good sales boost.

And those Penny Arcade guys are so generous, they don't even put it in as an affiliate link.

Is there some sort of offline installer? I would love to make a small presentation of the game in my column in a gaming magazine, but the demo needs to be put in the cover dvd.

They are the only honest voice in an industry (hardcore game review) that is otherwise completely in the pocket of the big game companies. They'll only advertise and/or recommend games they've personally played and liked, and aren't scared to trash a lousy game, regardless of pressure and/or financial incentives from the big players... thus, their word carries a lot of weight with hardcore fans.

Personally, I find their success extremely inspiring, because it proves that altruism and personal integrity are not mutually exclusive with professional success, which is the impression you'd get from the directorship of most companies.

Also, their comics are occasionally (not always, by a long shot) really friggin' funny.

@Bad Sector: Yes there is an offline installer. Do you want me to put you in contact with the correct person at BFG regarding putting this on a Magasine CD (sounds great btw!)

Got another boost of 6 in the BFG top 100 since yesterday (now at no.29 and no.9 in Mac games), so that's 14 places in 2 days - must be a testament to the power of Penny Arcade, wow.

There's a reason they can charge so much for their advertising space. :)
