    Hi everyone!

First off, I'm really happy to have found this forum! I never knew such a thing existed honestly.

My name is Jankiel, I'm a Canadian living in China as an English teacher to save up for an education in business or invest in a project as I want to be part of the industry as a game producer. My question is, what would be the correct path? Do I go for the education? Get the knowledge first before diving in? Read some books on the industry? Should I find experience first? Should I create that experience by investing? Can I invest right away? How much should I invest? Would $3000-$5000 be ideal? I have so many questions I apologize. I'm not trying to get there as fast as possible, my goal is to just get there. If there's anyone with experience out there I would most certainly love to hear what you've experienced to get where you are now. It would be an honour to hear from you.

Thanks for your time guys, I hope to hear from you soon!

A first step would be to learn about the industry, so I'd say start by reading books and articles. Gamasutra.com is a good place to start with as it's full of articles and blogs from people of all levels in the industry.

Another thought; being an English speaking Canadian in China puts you in a very favorable spot to help (for example) indie devs port their games to the big market that you are sitting in. That may a good place to start with as a producer : managing a small team to localize existing games.

Thank you! China does have a huge mobile gaming market. I'll see how I can look into that, thanks for the advice!
