    Hi guys,

Here's the first look at my forthcoming title "Awesome Soccer"...

It's a modern take on the legendary titles Sensible Soccer and Kick Off 2.

It's aim is to retain all of the things that made those games great - ie fantastic gameplay, but to add some modern sheen and polish (I hope :) ), and to incorporate the new features that we've been become accustomed to within the genre through games like ProEvo/Winning 11 and FIFA Soccer.

Here are some more screen shots to whet the appetite (click on the links):

Any feedback or initial thoughts would be very welcome...

I am hoping to have the beta version available for release in a couple of weeks, so if anyone is interested in becoming an "official" beta tester, either PM me, or leave a post in this thread.

    Thanks!

It looks like it should be a neat game when it's all done. The graphics seem nice, but it's going to be up to the gameplay to dictate how it ranks.

Also, I thought the possesion bar at the bottom of the screen was a very cool feature! :)

    Thanks...

I'm really aiming also for the gameplay to be worthy of the genre.... :)

    - Shadows on the pitch cast by surrounding objects would add some visual flair to the game
    - Have you considered calling it football instead of soccer? Is your target market outside North America?

    Hi Ryan.

The players, goals and advertising hoardings do have shadows, so do you mean perhaps like a stadium cantilever overlay shadow?

I think "Soccer" is just more universal - i.e no-one gets confused about what sport it is! Don't get me wrong, in normal parlance I say "football", but for the game I think Soccer is the right choice. I kind of like the game name better also that way.

As a soccer fan, that looks great. Add me in as a beta tester, if you want :)

Do you have permission to use the real player names?

No; I have a name modifier/randomiser that will be used in the distributed game. The full version will also include a detailed Team Editor so that players can easily enter "real" names if they so wish.

I also intend to make a community so that downloads will be available of user submitted teams.

Joe - glad to hear it... :)

Also, I'm now glad I've included a German language translation.....perhaps you could even advise me on just how terrible it is! :)
