    I was using Sambar server with a cgi in my local cgi-bin directory

    Off the cgi directory there is an img directory with some pics. I've had to switch to using Apache locally as I want to use FastCGI and Sambar doesn't support it. I've managed to install and configure it ok, and the cgi comes up, but it doesn't seem to be able to find any of the files in the cgi directory other than the executable. For instance if the cgi has...

    <img src="img/hello.gif">

    as part of the output it can't find that image. It also can't find things like the css stylesheet files and so on.

    So what am I doing wrong? Can I not use relative paths in the cgi with apache? is there some extra bit I need to configure to get this working?

    Well I solved it. Apache is *crazy*. But the error where it wont load an image had to do with a css file being in a sub directory of a cgi directory. Its kind of like setting compression for a jpg file to the wrong value in some paint program only to have flood fill start not working with no error messages to go on.
