Artist: Dylan Klassen Site: http://amirai.net/sprites Hi, my name's Dylan. I'm an artist/animator and have studied under some of the best animators in the world from Pixar, Disney and more at animationmentor.com. Here's a few: My rates are good, so don't worry about animations so smooth taking a while to make - they're quicker to make than you might expect, which means they can be more affordable than you might expect. Looks like you may well get some good business, these are very nice. As a point of reference how long did the attached sprite take to make.
Thank you. That sprite took a total of about 3.5 hours. EDIT: Incorrect, it took 3.5 to do both the run and attack animations as mentioned below. The running sprite took about an hour to an hour and a half. The attack animation took most of the 3.5 hours. Sorry about that.
Whoa, really nice! So nice that I almost feel sorry that I'm doing 3D and don't have use for these Anyway, really smooth job.
Great work. Do you only do sprites or can you do environmental art (backgrounds, buildings, rocks, trees etc) also? Any examples?
Pigbrain: What Pogacha said. Technically, the first one attacking is 37, I left 3 standing frames at the end for presentation purposes. 16 for the 2nd char's walk cycles, 11 for the attacks. Polycount: Thanks! If your next project is 2D... TrickyFishy: I can do enviornmental art, but it's not my forte.
Whoops You're right, actually - my apologies, it took 3.5 hours to do both the small run AND attack animations. I forgot that I did them both in the same time period. Thanks for bringing that up.
These are simply incredible. I have a novel idea for you. Create a simple set of animations for a single character. Running, jumping etc. Then release that as Creative Commons - allow anyone to use that set in their game. What you will discover is you'll get a ton of exposure and referrals, and you will get folks who use your first set coming back for more (creatures, items, other characters, etc. etc.) For an example of this look at http://lostgarden.com/2007/05/dancs-miraculously-flexible-game.html
Nice art style and really nice animations. I'm going to hold onto your web address. Again, very, very nice.
Those are pretty cute alright. Really makes you want to grab one with the cursor keys and go slash something!
very smooth animations, they look like they were done in a 3d package... did you use max or maya or similar?
I think you'll find those are 3d renders. Just zoom in on one, that would be some amazing pixel plotting abilities. The animation is top notch.
