I can't see it mentioned already, so I thought I'd note this little indie games festival that's happening in my town this weekend. You'll want to get your ticket pretty quick. (I'm not affiliated.)
Freeplay is an independent games festival that focuses on the creative and artistic side of making games. It exists to provide opportunities for Victorian and interstate independent developers, educators, and industry practitioners to interact with each other and their audience in an environment designed to stimulate debate, share new ideas, explore theories, and take part in discussions on the creative direction of the medium. Freeplay 2009 is taking place at the State Library of Victoria on August 14 & 15. http://www.freeplay.net.au/ See you there.

I'm packing for it now.
Going to fly down to Melbourne this evening and stay at a friend's place. Should be interesting. See you there I guess! For reference, I look every inch the university student (because I am). I have chin-length hair, gold-rimmed glasses, and a blue shoulder bag. |

I'll be going too!
I'll be roaming around clutching a silver/metallic grey motorcylce helmet and sporting a shaved, balding head. Last edited by ionside; 08-13-2009 at 05:32 PM.. |

I'll be there too. I'm not sure what to expect, but if it's being held in Melbourne there's no good excuse not to attend. I'm finding it hard to choose between some of the panels and the workshops being held at the same time.
Oh, and my bag has a fluro green-yellow front panel with "ECCV2006" written on it. I'm reusing my conference bag collection from postgrad life. ![]()

In the event, I don't believe I did meet any of you guys (though I haven't cross-referenced names to make sure). Ah well, next time! It was great fun anyway. Some dodgy speakers, but some really good speakers and I met a bunch of people, which was the whole point in any case. Mission successful.
