I don't know about other indies but those are steep prices for me. Last time I attended GDC I slept in my car to save on a hotel. This year I have a friend in town to stay with but I'm still pretty broke (hell I'm Greyhounding it out there just to save a hundred bucks). $23 I could manage but even that's extravagant for me. So I would vote el cheapo

Why is it in a down economy everyone tries to money grab?
In the past we've just shared plates and brought the cost down for everyone, this year it will be more expensive than eating there without a group.

Maybe we should just try to make several smaller reservations and avoid being forced into a banquet? (like 2-3 reservations for 12-20?)

I love the big group, but honestly it's hard to talk to anyone not on your side of the table anyway, so 3 reservations of 12, if they allow us to control pricing better, I think might be a better approach. I don't want to exclude anyone and the prices, I think, are steep.

I liked your idea. I now have two reservations for 12. One is at 6:30pm, and the second is for 7:00pm. The second one is in Russell's name. (if that's a problem, let me know)

We can order whatever we like, but it's still family style, which should be great for sharing the expense.

Note the first reservation was made for 6:30pm, and the other two are for 7pm. People who need to attend the Minna Mingle early, should consider arriving at Buca at 6:30.
