Default Additional domain names

Here's an interesting thing - or maybe not.

A month or so ago I was searching for some good domain names. While typing in random things, I noticed that www.xpea.com and www.experience.me.uk were both available - both seemed like pretty good names to me, so I registered them.

I didn't have any use for them at the time, so just parked them to point at www.supergerball.com

Now looking through my referral logs, I notice that I've had 100 visits from xpea.com, and around 30 or so from www.experience.me.uk - this has surprised me, as I thought no-one would know about them.

So maybe registering some half-decent domain names is a good way to get more traffic?

Chances are those hits are made up almost entirely of bots looking for email addresses to scrape. Tis sad but true. Newly registered domains can be found from various sources including this one and bots scan those and then hit them. As do indexing spiders such as Google or AltaVista, etc. That site seems to only have .com and .net, but I suspect there are other such sites for .co.uk (and probably the rest of them).
