Would you like to learn German?

I just heard a report on the radio about a concept called 'language exchange'.
Two people who want to learn each others language meet either in real life or via Skype and talk about stuff. The first half of the conversation they talk in one language, the second half in the other language.

That is a great idea! I wanted to improve my English and French for a long time. So I thought, why not talk about indie game development with someone.

So if you know a bit of German and are a native English or French speaker, we can talk on Skype about games and other stuff and at the same time improve our language skills.

Anyone interested?

Sounds like fun. I'm a native spanish speaker though (latin american flavor though - uruguayan-argentinian spanish more specifically). However how do you kickstart this process? I guess it assumes some previous familiarity with the other language, otherwise you can't just "have a conversation". Maybe spanish vs italian or english vs german, but I can't imagine spanish vs japanese without any previous knowledge.
