Default Sneak Peak: ArcadeTown 2006 Game Awards

Move along, nothing to see here... except some great games! Man 2006 saw some great games and predict 2007 will be even better. So many great games that struggled to choose the top picks, sorry if yours was left out. Much different than just 2 years ago.

your tastes seem to have changed a little over the last 3 years. Mostly very high production titles of more general mass appeal are on your list this year. Except maybe cute knight and fish tycoon.

I am not criticising, just observing and commenting

//edit... too bad that you don't also make a list of great but more alternative games, because you have many of them on AT

I liked all the games on that list except Cake Mania. Scary reading about the production costs though ^.^

Good to see Cute Knight in there, I knew that game'd be a hit straight away.

Are those awards based on sales? I'm surprised I don't see FizzBall in the top 10, that game's so much better that half the ones in top 10. Of course it's a matter of personal tastes.

I was thinking this too when looking at the Casual chart. OTOH, quite a few on that chart have been out for ages and must be still finding new customers, having 'permeated' the market and portals (?). I mean, Bejeweled 2, Mystery Case Files and Fish Tycoon are all still in the top 10 Its a curious thing...

Anyway, I also hope fizzball does well.

Done, added more at bottom and some other mentions scattered about.

This year's list is skewed towards user's proven tastes, yet not just a top 10 list, with light personal touch. Shoot my picks would have been WW2 Pacific Heroes, Star Defender 3, Dark Matter, Mighty Rodent, and so on if you catch my drift FizzBall is doing well but curiously still hasn't popped our top 10, it hit #11 yesterday, still hoping.

Our users, as well as on other portals, are responding to different and new genres. Cute Knight, Aveyond, Fish Tycoon, Westward, Virtual Villagers, WW2 Pacific Heroes, Empires and Dungeons, and Kudos are just a few examples. Hope developers notice that.
    Thanks,

I think these games are a cut above the rest (of the clones). So they keep popping up in the top 10 list of the portals now and then. Esp. Bejeweled 2.
