    Default Feedback request: Pob (WIP)

    Hi everyone,

    I would really appreciate your feedback on this demo, this is my second attempt to create a casual game (Ill get it right one day )

    This is still very much work in progress, it still requires some polish, music and more levels (only 8 included in the demo) etc. But thought I would post it here for some feedback before investing more time and effort on it.

    Screenshots:

    Download (Windows/OpenGL version only 4.82Mb)

    I would love to hear what you guys think about it especially,
    Playability
    Player Controls
    Ways to improve it
    Worth pursuing or ditch and start again?

    Thanks for your time.

    Not to shabby, I think. It has the possibilities of a game. I'm not a huge fan of using the keyboard, but for this game, it seems about right. One quick fix needed is when you fail on a level, what do you do to restart? Turns out the jump key works - but it should just restart right away.

    Also - timer levels. You should add some good sounds to let the player know time is running out.

    But really - it's a good start. I'd keep going with it, think of some more things to do with tiles (I like what you have already), maybe some enemies that chase you? You could have a PacMan/Monkeyball game here.

    Me like

    It feels like a faster-paced version of Wonderland. I really had fun with the handling of the character. It'd be a blast if there were occasional bumpers acting as walls, so Pob could bounce off them.

    It does need prettier graphics, though. Some of the level textures you have so far look like they'd be right at home in Quake or any other gritty action game.

    Thanks for your time and word of encouragement.
    I think Pob is worth sticking with, see where it goes.

    @adamw
    Totally agree with the restart issue, it strange that you don’t notice these things until someone points it out. Thanks!

    The timer countdown is also another good point and will be changed.

    As for ‘enemies that chase you’ Im already working on a simple AI for just this purpose.

    @Ricardo C
    It'd be a blast if there were occasional bumpers acting as walls’ Yep it is in some of the later levels there are objects in the maps that you can bounce off, when combined with the friction free tile it gets very manic.

    The snowman level is very much like this, If you want to give that a try you can easily edit the level file so that it plays first.

    In the file PobLevel.lvl just move the line

    xmas.pob Snowmans.revenge

    to be the first line in the file.

    And yes I fully admit Im no artist

    Once again thanks for the time taken.
