Default [Feedback] Freerange - release candidate

    Hi all,
Well I look at my profile and I see that my join date was 22 Sep - 2005. So that makes it about a year since I started thinking about getting a game into some kind of state of completion. Funny, the year seems both a long time and a short time depending on how you think about it.

Anyhow, I have my game FreeRange just about ready to go - subject to changes that feedback suggests I should make.

The idea behind the game is that it is action, but with a strategy component. The strategy is supposed to be that once you known how to complete a level well, it should be pretty easy for you to complete it again. Also, there is not a "best" way to do it - hopefully giving some replay value.

Let me know what you think.

It might just be me and the lack of sleep that I've had of late... but this game seems really hard to me. Only 3 or 4 levels in and I was pretty much up the river, and with the need to play through all the levels up to the last one I got to each time I "died", my motivation to continue grew weak pretty quickly.

I'd say add the ability to play from any level that you got up to (reset the score and money though), and have someone redo the graphics to bring them up a few notches and you'll have a pretty nifty game on your hands.

Yeah, you can start from where you left off. You just have the click on the dot in the "start here" screen. I will have to make this more clear - I think I will change the "default" to start from the last incomplete level.
Given this, do you still think the game is too hard ? I can't tell anymore since i've tested it so much.
I will look at a graphics overhaul if the gameplay can support it - that is, no point polishing a turd, but if graphics is the only thing holding a good game back, I will seek professional help.
    Thanks for the feedback.

I really enjoy the look of the game - it has the STYLE! Haven't played it yet, but will soon. Very nice work!

Hmmm. Any ideas why? What windows are you running? Do you think it's a permissions thing, or does it just not even start, or does it crash?

Any info would be great because I thought is was a pretty straight-forward "dump files on disk" installer. (Nullsoft/NSIS).
I would love to fix this,

    Installer works now!

But before, I was able to download only about 700kb long exe install file that was giving me an error window message. cant remember what exactly..

but now it is all right - 7mb install exe file - OK
