Reflexive updated Wik & The Fable of Souls (no more OpenGL)
Reflexive Entertainment has released a new version of Wik & The Fable of Souls
For those of you who have no idea what Wik is: Wik is a rather original “platform” game from the creators of Ricochet Lost Worlds.
The update addresses many of the concerns expressed by members of this forum and our customers. Changes include:- Much better hardware compatibility - Wik now has a software rasterizer and is no longer dependent on OpenGL or Hardware Accelerated video drivers.
- The tutorial levels automatically move on - Many player were stuck in the tutorial and didn’t know they could click the menu to go to the next level
- Trial period is now 90 minutes. Even if you already played the original for 60 or 90 minutes, you will get a new 90 minutes to evaluate the updated version
- Mouse button/key configuration - You still need a mouse to play but now you can swap the mouse buttons around or use keys on the keyboard in place of mouse buttons.
- Fixed ghost recording bug - In the past, recording were not saved to disk and did only lasted as long as the program was running.
- Other minor changes and fixes
I am very pleased with the performance of the 100% software version. It is still very playable on a P3-733 MHz at 800 X 600 X 32 bit. Best of all, it works with any video card and looks exactly the same on all of them. You should defiantly try the new version if the previous version wouldn’t run on your computer or had strange problems with streaks, banding, or blanking out
As always, any feedback is appreciated.
