Hello! I recently recieved an email from this site asking permission to include my game on a shareware CD. As far as I can tell, the terms look reasonable, but I'm new at this so I want to check them out a little more before agreeing to anything. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Micro App is a growing french publisher. I can even say that they're becoming a "big boy" on PC (Mac?) platform.
That CD might be largely distributed. So it could be an interesting deal, many eyeballs reached.

But I never had to deal with them.

Interesting. Any french speaker can look for a "developers" or "submissions" contact email?

    Hi,

I'm french and I know someone working at MicroApp. All I can say is that MicroApp is *everywhere* in France (in the biggest retail store). They are also known to drive a very serious business. I think their major income is books, printer paper and some famous apps (like "Architect 3D"). Each CD is sold between 6.000 to 12.000 units yearly (but only few titles are published more than 1 year). About games now, they used to publish compilations ("1000 arcade games" etc.) and casino games but for a few years they have been coming to games in other ways:
    - budget (from other publishers back catalog)
    - new "small" arcade titles (super breakout 3D, mad rabbit shooting, 3D maze), very similar to common indie games
    - new BBB titles (not AAA strategy = sub-clones of Civilization or Age of Empire).
Average retail price for games is 15 to 30 euros.

To submit your game, go on this page and select "vous etes auteur, vous avez un projet de livre ou de logiciel", which means: "you are an author and have a book or software project" ("Prenom" = first name, "Nom" = last name). But I don't know if their support team can handle submissions in english.

Great i'll be able to buy BBB for 1 Euro on a CD ! ( just came back from the hypermarket, that's the price of "indy games" now ) I'll buy one to take a picture.

I bet your royalty share on that will be quasi inexistant.

    Haha LOL
Well I got that email too, but I think is for a shareware compilation CD, with the trial versions on it. In that case I don't have anything to lose, just extra exposure (even if they sell the CD for 1 euro, no big deal).
Not sure if it is the same email you got...

Sounds like the same email. It is just the shareware version so they can give the CD away for free for all I care
