    Default Feedback request: gibbage.co.uk

    Hi all--

I've assimilated my two sites (the Gibbage Blog and www.gibbage.co.uk) into one. It suddenly seemed silly to have two, and the Blog got more traffic, so I figured it was smarter to sell Gibbage from the Blog...!

Anyway -- just wondering what you think of the idea/ the look.

    Gibbage.co.uk

Any problems, please let me know.

    Known Issues:
    -- About Gibbage needs smartening
    -- Buy Page needs smartening
-- Screenshots could do with opening into a nicer window
-- Need to add contacts to the sidebar

Any other advice, comments would be most welcome.

    Many thanks,

    Dan

You should look at the text on the right in firefox, can barely read it.

Also you should put your game on http://www.gametrove.net. (sorry, shameless self promotion)

If you're hosting the blog on your own site, you don't need the Blogger bar at the top (only needed for hosting at blogspot). Personally, I think the Blogger bar makes a site look less professional.

    Agreed. I'll look into that.

Danimal: Works fine in Firefox for me, though. Is it the sidebar text that's difficult to read, or the righthand side of the actual posts themselves?

    Thanks, guys. Much appreciated.

I have the same problem. I manage to read it only because I have a big monitor.

I think the font on the Demo and Buy Now and About Button could be better.

The font is unreadably small in my Firefox too. Make sure your font size is set to normal (press Ctrl+0) when you test your sites in Firefox.

Danimal et al: the Firefox/ small font should be sorted now. Thanks for the heads up...

There are still bits of too-small font left: in the profile box and the copyright line at the bottom, for example.

Well, IMO Dan, your other Gibbage site looked much more professional than the blog page you have. When I first went to the blog, I was kind of suprised to see you were selling Gibbage on it...it just seemed kind of odd (ie, amatuerish...)

But, people have ads on their blogs, people have popups and crap...so I donno, why can't you sell a game from your blog?

Well, good luck with it, everything displayed fine and all.

    Hello, Dan,

I've played your game for the first time, and have some things to say about my first impressions. I hope you can appreciate them, for even if you don't like what I say, I think your game has a nice opportunitty of being a much better game for much more people.

My first impression is about the graphics: colorful and nice, and also quite balanced, but terribly tiny. My eyes sure are not what they used to be, but I don't recall such a small creatures since lemmings.

Then, about the tutorial, the letters are just to tiny again, and, at least in my computer, they get deformed due to the lack of antialiasing (which is probably due to my shitty graphics card) so it's quite an adventure to read them. Then, when you see a message for the first time and the screen goes to black, my comp slows down a lot, and I got crazy before I understood what was going on. Since you can't be killed, maybe there's no need to perform that pause.

Those where just details. Now my first complain is about the control: I had a very hard time to get used to, and even now there are many tricks the machine does but I simply can't perform. For example, grabbing a wall then jumping back, my feeling is that, for such a basic movement, the way of performing it is very confusing. I'd prefer that, when jumping to a wall, there was one second pause in the movement of the character in which you could press back+jump, something more similar to the normal behaviour of the character. Or about the double jump: you must press jump so quickly to do it that I fail to double jump just too much. I think the controls are just too hardcore: it would help a lot if you take a less experienced player to tell you what he finds difficult or not, so you could get a wider potential players.

Then, about the name of the game and all that tomato sauce. Well, when I first saw the screenshots at your web page I just imagined a nice arcade with some colorful, warm graphics. After playing I still think the game has some potential, but the 'blood' and gore thingy just crashes with my first impression. In my opinion, your game could be as fun as it is now even if it hadn't so much red, and that would also make easier for some parents to buy it for their children. Oh, yeah, kids like blood - but kids usually don't own the money.

Well, that's my humble opinion. Your game is nice, but it can improve a lot if you work on making it more acceptable for a wider audience both fot the control and the gore features. I thank you for reading this reply even if you don't agree with me. Keep up working!
