Default FAQ me, FAQ me hard!

Wasn't really sure what forum to put this in, so this'll have to do.

I'm currently writing the FAQ section of my website, but I'm having a hard time trying to think up the kind of questions that might get asked. So far I have:

    - Game runs slowly/stutters
    - Game fails or crashes
    - I lost my license key, gimme a new one
    - I ordered a game, but no email showed up

And that's it. It doesn't seem enough. I'd like to try and make a really comprehensive FAQ list to a) cut down on the same support emails over and over and b) to let the more savvy users see that there is a decent level of commitment to the games.

So if anyone has any suggestions for more questions/answers to add, please fire away.

Well it's an FAQ. Just add frequently asked questions to it :)

Provided your customers still have a way of contacting you, let the natural ebb and flow of support guide the FAQ. If you find them asking a question more than 2 or 3 times, then you may need to add it to the FAQ. Until then, what you have is sufficient. Now FAQ off! ;)

Putting made up questions in your FAQ can make it less valuable. Ideally, you should order it by the most asked Q first, and down from there. So I would say wait for some Q's to come in before building it.

    Default What's a FAQ?

I think it may also depend on the type of games you are creating...the audience may not even know what a "FAQ" is!

What about just having a page called "Common Problems" or something arranged in the format @Sillysoft posted.

    At least, that's what I'm doing..*shrug*

I'm thinking of a site redesign which includes merging the FAQ and Support sections. After 3 years there aren't just enough questions to justify a long FAQ and made-up questions aren't the answer (this doesn't mean you can't anticipate questions). Users won't read the section anyway :) So I'd say leave as it is, concise and to the point. Now go FAQ yourself!

okay, sound advice everyone. I'll leave it at just the four common problerms for now and see if anything else gets asked regularly.

And Wazoo - I already thought of that - it will be listed as a 'help' page, I just use the term faq here because everyone around here knows what I mean. Plus I can swear at people, for faqs sake.

heh. Sorry. After making the post and re-reading yours I started to get the impression that that's what you were doing.

The original pun (possibly(1) offensive as it was) was at least followed by a forum related post(2).

I see neither (1) or (2) here. we got the joke, now its time for ON topic posts.

    Just a friendly warning.
