    Default Scuttlesoft.com Feedback

    Hello all,

I little while back I created Scuttlesoft.com to focus on more family oriented games, but I've kind of neglected it since I released my first game under it's name. I've since released another (a space shooter based off of an earlier game I made.) I'm working on going back over the web site, and both games trying to make improvements where I can. I already have a list of things I plan on doing, but I'd like to get some advice/ideas/criticism on the website and/or Bandits Big Adventure and Project Zeus.

The URL is located here http://www.scuttlesoft.com

    Thanks,

    JerryF

Improvements to the site can be made quickly and easily:

    * Choose a color scheme for the site. Blue and white doesnt jive with your red/blue/gray logo.

    * Redo the logo. It looks like you applied some 'shop filters and that's what you ended up with.

    * Left justify. Try not to center too many things, this makes the site look amateurish.

    * Add more content. Support page, company info, more info about the games, reasons to buy, etc.

    * Bullet points on the benefits of purchasing your game.

    * Big buy, try buttons instead of 'click here' text links.

    * When adding new stuff, keep everything above the fold. So people wont have to 'fish' for info using the scroll bar.

What he said... and use graphics in the right size. Using big images and scaling em down by setting their widh/height is a waste of bandwidth (and of course it looks pretty ugly).

Thanks for the suggestions for the website. You're right about the logo, it's just some text with a filter applied (GIMP, not PS Pro though.) I'll probably need to go through several iterations before I get anything I like.

Ok, I've done some work on my website, trying to implement as many of the suggestions as I could, and here's what I have so far:

The improvments are great. Now, from the homepage (and without scrolling) a user can get support, buy, download, see a screenshot, and find out how to get more info.

For the visual part, take a look at http://www.coolhomepages.com for 'inspiration'. Also, http://www.retro64.com and http://www.winterwolves.com both do a pretty good job at being usable and they look good too.
