    Default SpriteCraft from MoleStudio

    Hi,

I'm currently evaluating SpriteCraft. Sofar I'm quite impressed with it but i'm a bit unsure of thefact that it is a COM library. I did my share of COM programming 3-4 years ago and from what i can remember, getting COM components installed on clients machines was sometimes a real support nightmare.

Does anybody has some (positive) experience with COM based deployments or is it better to stick with non-COM toolkits like PTK or HGE?

    Thanks in advance.

I am not a fan of COM, but I am a fan of MoleStudio- molebox rules! However I'd say that keeping it simpler would probably be your best bet here...

Now I just have to ask! Does LoveChess sell?

Indeed, Molebox is great. We use it for the demo of LoveChess. The SpriteCraft libary is well crafted and has a very good architecture....it's just that COM thing which makes me doubt.

    Oh yes, LoveChess sells

Sorry to hijack the topic, but when I saw Lovechess, I said, "now that's a great idea for a game guaranteed to sell". Basically, you peak people's interests while avoiding a sleezy pornographic image. I am wondering if a demo hurts or helps your sales though....

    No worries,

The game was released in juni but we released the demo last week. We noticed a slight increase in sales this week but nothing dramatical.
The main reason for creating and releasing the demo was to lighten the pr work so we can get going on. I believe the demo is downloaded now about 30.000 times by every schoolkid in Spain who visited our site last week, I'm glad we didn't host it on our own server .

You're wary of COM programming? Um... do you not use DirectX???

No, I'm not afraid of COM programming, just the support implications.
