Default Where to submit a web game?

    Apropos this thread: http://forums.indiegamer.com/showthread.php?t=161

Are there any good sites to submit a web game like this:

    http://vredungmand.dk/games/hopwit/

    (A Java applet)?

I usually submit to jars.com and do a couple of forum postings when I create a new game. But I am thinking that I maybe can get more traffic, if I promote my games a little more.

try addictivegames.com. they get a lot of traffic.

That game is a little too difficult for the general public, btw. If I can't beat the 2nd level after three tries, and find myself having problems, then it's definitely too hard. I get complaints all the time about how hard my games are, and I swear I already dumbed down the A.I. enough in easy mode that it should be cake for most people. For example, in my fighting game I made the guys mostly stand there and attempt an attack once in a blue moon and I still got complaints.

And now back to the topic

try addictivegames.com. they get a lot of traffic.
Hmmm.. That site got a single link and then you get to http://www.sedo.co.uk/search/webarch...552&language=e

    The domain is for sale...

Did you have another site in mind ?

Yeah. The site addictivegames.com is a parked domain or something. I found this: http://www.freeaddictinggames.com where I submitted one of my games using their email form thing.

I looked through my access log and I can see that I get traffic from scandinavian sites such as http://www.1001spill.no and http://www.gratis-ting.dk, an Israeli one called http://www.shesh.co.il and a couple of English ones: http://www.coffeebreakarcade.com and http://www.crazybone.com.

Sam, jeg er vred over at alle de gode domænenavne er taget - f.eks. http://www.novalicious.com/ - pissegodt navn.

Just got an email from freeaddictinggames.com - appearantly they only list games that they host themselves and have the full source code for. I am looking for sites that are interested in linking to my games.

No. I am not going to give the source code unless I get full pay for the time I have put in it.

Jars is still so much alive that I get ratings from them from time to time. :-D Besides I like them.

Maybe addictinggames' secret is the large number of incoming links they have - 600+ according to alexa.com. I suggested a game of mine in their form mail box.

Trust me Jars is basically dead to what was before. We got a Jars top 1% for our Apocalypse Outpost back in 99. They used to refer decent traffic but now they're just totally off the radar and much better sources these days. Try Arcadepod (a good buddy) for a decent starting point.

Yes, I meant www.addictinggames.com. My bad.

I don't know how it gets so much traffic either. It's such a primitive looking site (and a pain to navigate), and they only update about twice a month with maybe 5 new games, which only appear as a single text link on the front page. It's nuts. And I need to submit my games to them.

Addictinggames causing a lot of debate with buddies. To everyone it looks so weak, boy are we all wrong. Guessing users like quick access to a lot of games and the overall simplicity.

Few of their links are any good so that doesn't explain their traffic level. They don't come up in top 10 on any other good search terms either. Seems like people searching just for their name. Overture's search suggestion shows their name right up there for "games". Explains why so many ripped url imitators (hate those types).

(Edit) If anyone gets a listing there let us know. Lots have tried but only 1 I know has gotten a listing there. Seems they just list whatever they want.

I did a lot of searching for web games / suggest game etc. and added a game of mine to the portals I could find (around 10). Arcadepod.com as you suggest, leaves the best impression. My strategy is to repeat the procedure with another game next week and keep it up until I see some results.

I will let you know how things go.

    Default Update

I can't say I am having much luck.

I have submitted 4 of my games with 1 week interval to the sites I could find. Including addictinggames, arcadepod, crazybone and addictinggames.

But none except crazybone and topwebgames are linking.

My games at arcadepod are still pending approvement.

Any suggestions? Can I do something at arcadepod to get my games approved?

http://www.crazybone.com and http://www.gamesforge.com always welcome submissions and will update regularly.

Thanks for the submissions so far - please keep 'em coming!

Heh, nice to see the Save The Ring game I made for GamesofGondor featured on HeavyGames. I was afraid it wouldn't spread after Newgrounds took it down after a single day on the frontpage.

Actually know Daniel/GamesofGondor personally and had lunch with him once, great guy. Was funny when we compared lists how many online gaming guys he knew that I knew.

Oh yeah? Well I talked to him on the phone once! So....okay, you beat me.

I'm still waiting on the artist to get more sprites done for the next game. I've got the engine half built for it.
