    Default Luxor 2

    Looks like a preliminary launch:
    luxor: amun rising

It seems like a new level pack and new bonuses for Luxor rather than a whole new game, but then again if I hit a triple jackpot with the first game I may be conservative with a follow-up too

    Best regards,

Nothing too new and exciting here... Just milkin' the name/theme with a few new 'levels'. New "scorpion powerups"...

    say... these ARE exciting times.

This happens because there's no way to release level packs with the current marketing and distribution setup we're all using. (Which imho still has a long way to go before we're really making as much money with games as we should be.)

Makes perfect business sense but since they just released Chainz 2, it's sort of disappointing. They're not only releasing clones, they're releasing clones of their own games.

Interesting, it doesn't appear that Gamehouse is distributing this one...

The thoughts that went through my head when I saw another post by Emmanuel on the announcements forum....

I cant believe Yahoo has done such a poor job promoting it.

It's probably one of those stealth, "soft", releases that seem to be so popular these days. Release it without much fanfare, get the kinks worked out, and THEN promote the hell out of it.

Why do you think yahoo has done a poor job of promoting it? Its the main feature on the games page and in the arcade section. The exclusive I dont believe is a soft launch.. just a deal with yahoo. Maybe they offered them a better deal % wise on sales or something to get the game first.

It has to be a soft launch: the game crashed and exited every time I played it, sometimes even in the first level. I hesitated posted it here, but I figured it would interest everyone who's made or is making a Puzz Loop kind of game.

I ran it without incidence. Was rock solid for me. Im a little surprised that it would be buggy, since I assume it has pretty much the same code base as luxor which should be pretty solid by now. But generally soft launches aren't put up on the main page.. usually they're buried somewhere in the categories and kept out of top 10 sales lists etc... The whole point is to limit your downloads while you catch last minute bugs or even things you want to improve on if the sales don't meet expectations.

It is interesting that basically Popcap started this whole craze with Zuma, but no Zuma 2 has been announced, I think that is such a waste, Zuma has a higher replay value, as it is harder than both versions of Luxor.

(So if anyone from Popcap is listening, get on it!)

I saw a boxed copy of Luxor at CostCo last night, of all places. Now *that* is mass market penetration. Nice work.

(I think it was an eGames retail box? Don't recall for sure)

Actually, Mumbo Jumbo runs their own retail distribution outfit.
