Protection System

Hi all,

I am considering several software protection system for time-limiting my demo and protecting my final version as well, I wonder which software protection system is the most used by developers in this forum? Can anyone share their experiences and why you choose the product ?
I've checked softwarepassport since its seems quite professional and reliable, is it true that it may be used to protect as many product as we want free from royalty ?

I created my own software encryption and security package.. In a few months I may be selling it as a security software package. It's called Secure-Lock and its designed similar to a product called Code-Lock.

Whatever you do, I'd recommend staying away from Code-Lock. The product is $400, (I bought it) and had totally ruined my app. The problem uses an ActiveX security design to protect your app. It has enormous problems with WinXP (SP2) and the developer has since said he isn't updating/fixing these problems until November. He has me given the impression that the product will be vaporware soon. So I ultimately wrote my own security platform that mimmics the syntax of CodeLock but uses more secure/stable .DLLs as its means of implementation.

I hope to sell the package once I "make it more generic" for end-user distribution. It uses some very nice encryption, and binds the software to your customers hardware. It even features online validation via a simple CGI gateway interface. With this CGI gateway you can post data/logs of your program to your server much like posting in this forum. You can then use a remote Admin app to validate, register and even uninstall your application. ;)

So far my security scheme hasn't been cracked... So I'll have to alter it a bit before I make a "public" offering.

The design is very secure and features alot of great functions. Including hash-tables to detect sector/binary editing of the .DLL and/or .EXE. The system also establishes security through an remote/encrypted data dependancy. This makes it almost crack proof. (The philosphy is, you can't crack a file you don't have.)

I don't know when I'll release this application, but I use the security scheme to protect my software and I'm really happy with it. You can email me directly for questions, but I'm sure I'll sell it for much less than $400/license.

I'm still kinda upset about that Code-Lock purchase.. but I learned alot from its design.

Sorry... The design is Winblows.. err.. Windows only.. I am seriously looking into RealBASIC and some cross-platform solutions however..
