Default Wildlife Tycoon: Venture Africa BETA signup

Register at this link with a valid email address and you will receive an email on the 21st (6 days) giving you access to the beta version of Wildlife Tycoon: Venture Africa. We REALLY NEED YOUR HELP making this the best game of the year. This is NOT your average Tycoon game. (In fact, it's not that much of a Tycoon game at all!)

When the beta forums go live, you get this really freakin cool wallpaper (at various resolutions) if you are a part of the beta.

    Wink

I'm not a spammer, but I want to keep track of who is helping with the beta. I also need to be able to send announcements out during the beta test for when new versions go up. Thus, I ask for a valid email.

If you don't want to register, you can wait for the release...

Thanks for the compliment on the screenshots, by the way.

This comment seems unnecessary. This is the sort of stuff that I find makes these forums less and less friendly to read. It's a real turnoff.

It was neither rude nor friendly - it's simply true that if you require an email you will probably get fewer (but not 0) signups, unless you have a high amount of buzz already.

But if you're trying to do a more focused beta and not just a general call for comments, then it makes perfect sense to try and keep tabs on people.

    Please don't overreact, Dave?

It was not an overreaction. I've been reading these forums a long time and it's that sort of terse comment that I personally don't feel is necessary. You're explanation is all well and good, and wouldn't prompt any sort of reply at all from me. However, you defending the comment did, as you can see.

    Red face

I've currently got 79 people registered, which is about in the range that I'm looking for. This beta isn't a buzz-building effort, it's really just a "make the game as good as it can possibly be" effort.

Yeah, the comment was probably not necessary, but it's no big deal. The perils of the online world...

But if you guys wanna keep discussing the issue it will keep this thread at the top of the stack... so go right ahead! Now THAT'S a buzz-building effort!

(And thanks for the congrats and the defense, Dave!)

I agree it's a comment that doesn't actually contribute to the thread other than to sound grumpy. It was a pointless thing to say in the context of the OP's intent.

    Good luck with your game!

just being honest. won't apologize for that. was it unnecessary maybe, but then so is tentons post and DaveMyers 2nd post, possibly even his first post as well.

the screenshots of his game look great and i will gladly test it if/when he posts the link here.

ps. i won't be responding the any posts regarding this one so let's not add any more "noise" to this thread than there already is.
