If anything, it might just piss people off that they are now glad they pirated. Sillysoft's version was good because it treated the potential criminal as a decent human being. I don't agree with the implied idea that pirating $600 software from a larger company is justified more than pirating $15 software from a small company, though. But hey, it's marketing, and if it is a concern in the minds of real potential pirates, then appeal to that concern.
