Real Time Strategy?
Are there a lot of games that are shareware that force you to build units? Cut Trees? and Farm? Games like Rise of Nations or Age OF Empires 2, and if there are do they sell well?

yes there are many. even, in some countries in the far east you are not allowed to publish your game as an indie unless it is a realtime stradegy game! also notice that specially in africa, latin america and the middle east those kind of games are very popular among the politicians.

Well, I have made a real time strategy game as well (Pax Solaris), but it pretty much lacks everything you usually expect from a RTS
Two that I can think of off the top of my head would be Trash and World Fables. Trash has been in production for some time now, and World Fables has already been released in Germany, but is strangely unreleased everywhere else, even though the developers are from Canada.
Kind of makes sense, the Germans are absolutely crazy about strategy games, of all kinds, so focusing on the German market is not that strange an idea...Originally Posted by Gmicek

Hahaha, tell me about it. I was seriously considering trying for a somewhat related reason. There's a pretty robust independent gaming scene in Germany that would be great to be able to keep track of. However, as good as the translator is in Opera, it doesn't react to well to sites that have a lot of slang and non-proper language, such gaming news and developer sites... ahh well.Sounds like the perfect opportunity to learn another language
