Quote for XNA progamming need to set Kickstarter minimum
I have a little project I'm trying to raiser awareness of o Kickstarter. And depending on what types of quotes I get, will set the Kickstarter funding floor accordingly. Also I am wiling to give a percentage of the project in addition to a minimum hire cost. Quote both a full cash price and how much percentage you want if I raise less. (like 1% of the business for every 2% I'm under, minimum 50% of the cash price, as an example.)
So you know the types of programming involved, here is my plan. There are too many indie games I own for the 360 that are online, but I cannot find opponents for. This is a solution so I can play other Xbox games while I wait for someone to be onine.
This is a 2 prong strategy. First free users would volunteer their gamertag, a list of games they are wiling to play if asked, and a list of activities they do and don't want to get interrupted in (yes for Hulu, Zune, Netflix, single player games [you have to list them individually], etc., no for certain head to head online games I take seriously enough to be in a league.) You can either assume I want to get interrupted on everything except what I specify, or say yes to ONLY what I specify. It gets send to an Xbox database to be searched.
The people who pay would be allowed to search the database for people live who are a) currently online b) Said they want to play the game you are searching for, and c) are not doing a game they blacklisted and can friend them. They'll get a specific friend/invite for a particular game. The only thing you need is one free friend slot for each gamer you want to pick up.
And speaking of friend slots, with all these new strange friends, you'll get over 100. I've got a solution for that. Instead of deleting and writing down names you may want to contact again, save hem to hard drive, and send an automated message that they are now a passive friend. The secret is that XBox live has a maximum 99 ACTIVE friends whose activities you can see. But that doesn't disallow PASSIVE friends too.
THe free mode allows you to activate and passivate one at a time. PAid users can group them and mass activate/passivate by group.
Another important function is letting your friends see your Indie Game List, a way to search your friends by games you own, you own in common, or you are considering owning. Free version lets you compare active friends, pay version looking in aggregate across all volunteers to this service.
One final thing if it is not too much (price this separately) is low bandwidth tools like a speed test and ways to download less by dropping quality of full HD videos online. Kind of like what the original Xbox and the Xbox 360 had before the first Avatar update.
Graphics can be barebone. The most important thing is "xbox Network database" manipulation and scanning functions.
Finally, I've got a possible new business model to pay for it. I got a company who can sell ads on interactive products. The ads will be "Xbox server based", not hardwired in the game, so they can be changed every week or month. If the app sells for 80 MSP, for every 2-3 dollars we raise in commercial ads, 80 points will be awarded to the purchasers, in the order of purchase from first to last. We might even have a few freebies left over. A new ad would play upon a game search, Passive friend message, looking up of games by game, as opposed to by friend, and speed test.
Post if interested. Remember I want a cash minimum, a paid in full price, and what terms you'll want for partial partnership.
