Well hi, folks!

I'm new to the whole game development scene but so far I'm having a lot of fun with my first game. I was just looking for some feedback regarding the concept to see whether or not I should continue with development. The screenshots I saw here for other games are miles ahead of mine, so it's a bit intimidating, but here goes.

I Just Like to Kill Things is the world's simplest Rogue- Like game. You play as a guy who just likes to kill things, setting off on a dungeon- crawling adventure through various caverns and treacherous locations, battling various forms of monsters in an easy to follow but difficult to beat gameplay fashion.

I Just Like to Kill Things is coded with the default Java API. The combat style is a bit like Gauntlet, with spawners and enemies, but the rogue- like style means that the enemies respond to player movement. The player can level up to earn higher HP and Mana, equip various items for boosts in their stats, and earn magic spells for powerful ranged attacks, healing abilities, and enhanced movement.

Some screenshots from the game (These are all animated in the game, so uh... use your imagination? ) The game's cursor doesn't show up in the screenshots, for some reason probably having to do with my utter incompetence. But:

Above is the title screen. Barebones, very basic. Might throw in an options menu.

Above is what a basic battle looks like. Here I am locked in an intense brawl with a bat. Not the most threatening of enemies, but it's the one I used for demonstrating.

Above is the inventory screen, with the potion I just got from the bat placed right on in there, free to use at any time. It's an experience potion, granting +10% experience on use.

Above is the player casting the level 1 magic spell (Fire) on an enemy. The magic system involves selecting the target or targets with the mouse, then choosing which spell to cast with the number keys.

That's all I have for now. I have a few more enemies (Zombies and slimes) and a few more blocks, but this is the core essence of the game. It's extremely early in the development process; I plan to add more features, including equips, bosses and secrets, but until then, I just wanted some feedback to see if it was worth continuing development on the game.

I greatly appreciate any feedback. If you have any questions or want more screenshots (I had 6, the max was 4) please feel free to ask, in the thread or in PM. Thanks for your time, and I hope you like the look of this!
