Default Timing of publicity in correlation to release.

This could be an interesting thing to discuss.

Your game is done. It's ready to be released.

Who do you show first? Distributors want press, but that's public, so do you really want to "unveil" your game before it's actually out - bearing in mind that it's a semi-casual game? The customer-to-be would want to play it instantly, right? Is it still the best route to contact press first, without a release date? This seems to be the way most people do it, but coming from the music industry - it really isn't what works in the long-term.

In what order would you do everything you need to do in-between finishing the game and releasing it?

Fix a release date. Send a demo to journos ahead of that date and get em to salivate your audience. Then when you release later they'll post something again. Everybody wins.
