Imho if you need to highlight it only on mouseover then the one without the outline is enough as feedback to the user. If the unity has to remain highlighted when the cursor is far from it then the one with the outline is actually more apparent.
Hi all, quick question about my free to play strategy web game, Endless Empires. I expect EE will be in Open Beta early next week. At this point I'm still fiddling about with a few details on our 1st 5 game maps and wanted votes on a glow effect. Here's what we had a few days ago (see low right corner, that guy has lit up due to a mouse over):
and here are the 2 replacement candidates, same location and, in both cases, this is the glow effect for a mouse over:
I think I prefer the one without the grey outline as it's more refined but the other is more apparent as you, the game player, move your mouse about the screen. Any thoughts?
