    Default Android Device List

Hello. Given the challenges on the Android platform would the indie game developers be willing to share/contribute to a running list of the android devices you are seeing success on so indie game developers can prioritize their development efforts. This list would be like the list of game portals.

You must be joking. Our game has fairly high requirements in terms of screen size and O/S version etc. Yet according to our stats page we're on 1,200+ different devices.

The biggest seller for us, by a long way, is Samsung Galaxy S2 if that's of any use. There's a couple more obvious names below that and then the remaining installed devices is grouped into "other". It really IS that fragmented out there.

EDIT: Here's a listing from our biggest seller:

    Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100)
    20,938
    9.48 %

    Asus EeePad Transformer TF101 (TF101)
    12,047
    5.45 %

    Samsung Galaxy Nexus (maguro)
    6,320
    2.86 %

    Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (GT-P7510)
    6,126
    2.77 %

    HTC Desire HD (ace)
    5,967
    2.70 %

    TF201
    4,992
    2.26 %

    Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000)
    4,903
    2.22 %

    Samsung Galaxy Nexus (toro)
    4,836
    2.19 %

    Acer Picasso (picasso)
    4,754
    2.15 %

    Others
    150,054
    67.92 %

EDIT2: These are installs that are still active. We've sold triple this number of copies, so older phones may not be well represented.

EDIT3: And according to complaints and one-star reviews, the game doesn't actually run at all on any of those platforms above. Of course it's nothing to do with jailbreaking, custom roms, nutjob screen control widgets and virii. Oh no, no siree. It's all our fault.... *sigh*

Click "statistics" to the right of your app entries in the developer console. There's tons of good stuff in there, they expanded it a lot fairly recently.

I saw an infographic about this kind of thing recently. It was some software website for something like checking the quality of local GSM signals or something. But it had clear numbers for a pretty high volume app. Seems to suggest the samsungs are the biggest part of the market as Paul shows. Plus there were tons of devices, including a few "marvell" devices. So its a hugely fragmented market for sure.
