    Default Tutorial Videos (software)

This may have already been asked in another thread, so apologies if that's the case, but what software have you guys used when making videos of your game to show off to press or to put on your website?

Is there any software out there that's easy to learn/free/affordable?

Under Windows, CamStudio is a nice program, although you may need to resort to black magic to make the sound be recorded if you have an onboard sound card.

Under Mac OS X, QuickTime Player has the ability to do screen captures but you need to short circuit the line in/out ports to capture the sound. An alternative is screen flow, but it is somewhat on the expensive side. However i think it is the best by far screen casting program i've used.

Under Linux, there is a bunch of them. I think a commonly used one is Instanbul.

Personally i use whatever i find around. If i need sound, i use one of the Linux screen+sound recording programs since they're free and my code is almost always cross-platform.

I use Fraps and I have an embedded video grabber based off of librevel I use to capture in step-time. Fraps is good, but produces insanely big files, which you then have to re-encode, but that's fine because the quality is really good.
