Default Can I borrow some bandwidth?

Does anyone have some spare bandwidth I can borrow/buy for a couple of days? I'll probably hit the 5 GB a day limit on the site, which I hadn't prepared for, and I wouldn't like it to be closed!

This is a temporary thing, I don't expect this peak to last past tomorrow - Wild West Wendy just got listed in the Apple site. If it does I'll find another solution, of course.

    Thanks guys!

I'd be willing to help if you need it. I have 20 gb transfer/per month. I don't currently have anything on hosting really (used like couple hundred mb for it, currently just store stuff there).

Just email me at dustinoliver at hotmail.com and I could set up a ftp for you or whatever you need.

Don't worry about cost or anything, I'm not using it anyway! Plus do good things and get into the community better!

We can lend you some; which file(s) would you like mirrored?

EDIT: We've got about 80gb free that we won't be using before the end of the month. So we'd be happy to help you out! It's on a Rackspace server, so the connection is excellent.

damn, I'd seriously like to help, but its the worst possible time. I normally have a few gig free, but just released a game myself and have none to spare.
Nice idea though (posting on here).

Guys, I'm really impressed by the overwhelming response. Thanks a lot. The file in question is http://www.mysterystudio.com/demos/www_demo_src.dmg if you want to mirror it.

Note that I already ordered a FileBurst account - with some luck they'll activate it in just a couple of hours, so I won't be abusing your kindness too much.

    Thanks, thanks, thanks.

Thank you all, guys. Moving the WWW Mac demo to Dan's server and disabling all the other demos saved our life. Still waiting for the FileBurst account activation though...

Just to show how close this was, take a look at our bandwidth graph (attached) - that's how it looked when I first saw it, with over 8 hours to finish the day!

This was my fault, really... I should have planned for this. Thanks guys, you really saved our day

If you'd like to switch between Dan's server and ours, feel free. As I said, we have at least 80gb that we definitely won't be using before month's end!

I'm getting 600kb/s at the moment.

    Hope this helps!

You probably don't need it (sorry, I was sleeping! ) but just in case a freak accident happens to your current mirrors, feel free to use this:

I've arrived late I had plenty of bandwidth too, but Dan offer seems very good
The bandwidth problems is because your game is 9mb which is much bigger than the first betty. If it runs only on Mac OS X you could have used a zip file and saved a bit of bandwidth maybe

never make a DEMo > 5 MB. Actually democracy is 6MB, but the full version is 12MB. I always laugh when people talk about a cool new 200MB demo.
However I did read a post on a forum from some muppet saying "I aint paying $50 for no 12MB game" Despite the fact that its only $20.
I guess he was a big diakatana fan, that was way bigger *sigh*

I think you've had enough help already! But just in case I've recently set up shop so I have a bare shell of a site with no complete product to sell for a month or two. I'm paying for it anyway so feel free to PM me.. at least it's bandwidth gone unwasted

So could any of you kind people spare a few gigabytes?

    The file is at:

    I mirrored Laser Dolphin:
    http://sillysoft.net/games/laserdolphindemo.sit

That should be able to handle as much bandwidth as you can throw at it.

Wow, thanks so much guys! I was sitting here watching my bandwidth go up for the past few minutes. I was considering starting up Apache on my computer ...

My game was put up on the Apple site on friday, so I thought that the traffic would die down by now, but instead it increased.

    Thanks again!

OK, they beat me, and they hopefully have servers with fixed bandwidth... I'm on Fileburst now ($1/GB). The irony is that I didn't need it after the weekend I posted this For $5 a month is still good insurance.

Hmm, $1/gb. I get 1.2TB per month on my dedicated server for $89 per month, why do i get the feeling i'm in the wrong business, i could be making a profit of $1.1k per month from 1 server alone.

Anyone need cheap file hosting, only $0.9/gig ?

For some reason people are willing to pay 1$/Gb to fileburst but not other indies... some months ago I was offering 0.7$ per Gb on my server (since most of the bandwidth was unused) and no one wanted it... so good luck

You have to consider that Fileburst is a professional company specialized in filehosting. With support and stuff. You are a guy with some bandwidth left on his server, it's not your main business. What if there's a problem and you can't be emailed because you are on holidays?
But i am interested in hosting some files on your server when i need more bandwidth. 1$/GB is pretty expensive. Unfortunately my webspace's bandwidth is more than enough now.

I know, and one of the options would be getting a server on ServerMatrix or something. But honestly, I'm afraid of it - I really don't want to be responsible for patching Apache and that kind of thing

Its not that bad if you get a good control panel with the machine. I'm a complete linux moron and I've had a reasonably ok time managing the server using whm and cpanel which for the most part makes it just a press of a button.
