Default Rifts: Promise of Power web site

    Hi,

I'm Alex Marciniszyn, one of the editors at Palladium Books, a major publisher of pen and paper role-playing games. Nokia has just launched a web site for the Rifts: Promise of Power videogame coming to the N-Gage QD. You can find it here http://www.rifts-promiseofpower.com

Not too long ago, we found out that the Rifts RPG has a high recognition factor among electronic gamers. And by the way, the licenses to do a Rifts game for the PC and other platforms are still available.

    Regards,
    Alex Marciniszyn,

...and probably way out of the range of most everyone here =)

Rifts games would be cool, but I imagine also a bit out of the scope of what the devs here normally undertake as well.

Would be interesting if you guys tried teaming up with someone though... instead of the (probably) hefy price tag of purchasing rights.

Because playing online with a team is soooo much more fun...

Making a proper Rifts game is out of scope for most (if not everyone?) people on this forum. You should really be talking to NCSoft or some other large publisher about a Rifts MMORPG. I think one of the big problems with Rifts is although its relatively popular as far as pen and paper RPGs go, it has almost zero brand name recognition in terms of the general public. A Rifts game would be relying on the settings alone, and at that point, if you're a big game publisher or developer, why not just make your own Rifts like setting? Maybe the recognition will change once the Rifts movie comes out (heard this was in production), but if the DnD movie is any indication, chances are that will just position Rifts as "that bad sci-fi movie"
