IGBM Software is a company to make games that are enjoyable in all respects, primarily for the gamer, but also for the spectator.

We currently do not have much programming behind us, and are looking for assistance.

We have licensed Garage Games engine.

We have 23 games of IP, GDDs, art, and music.

    We are looking for:
    3D modelers
    2D character artists
    Game/Level Designers
    C Sharp programmers
    Web Designers (Flash based site)

Pay will be negotiated in our discussions if you're interested.

If you really have a passion for games, please send me a PM, or just post your e-mail in the thread, as PMs seem to be inactive.

Thanks for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.

What are you advertising for and what are you offering in return? I can't make heads nor tails out of that ramble.

Thanks for clearing that up James. I agree I'm being a bit of a dick... but seriously.

The most interesting thing about this is that I've bothered. I don't want to work with the guy, just that ramble has me intrigued. Maybe this is why I don't understand marketing because this has gotten more time out of me than the soccer release above which is an actual game.

Anyhow. I went Googling for a company. I wanted to see some screenshots or something that the IGBM team has created. No website to be found, the only other thing was a copy and paste of the same announcement to be found here:

I'm kinda curious how some folks can't get their posts placed and these guys do...

Do you really want to work for someone who doesn't know what a wall of text is and why you shouldn't build them?

Congrats to James for his patience. I just skimmed to the bottom hoping to be the first guy to bitch about the posting style. Got no idea what was in the actual body text.

Well, this post is certainly easier on the eye than the football one!

    Cool

I don't think anyone was being a 'dick' or otherwise. When I see that much text, my eyes gloss over.

I may have lost certain...tones... in the translation, but I'm hoping the 'sweat equity' part recaptured them.

I think the original text was meant to convey the passion the OP has for making games and try to appeal and/or relate to indie developers.

Sometimes I wonder if new posters are screaming at the computer waiting for their response to be approved.

Wait, I think I heard something....

    Must have been the wind.

Seriously, though. I had a professor who once told me that when the hiring panel (for the college) looked through applications, they immediately threw out any resumes whose cover letters had any typos or grammatical errors.

Long story short, put your best foot forward when it comes to business. If you're crap at something, then have someone else do it.

    No kidding.

I just got offered a web development gig that I don't have time for because of other commitments. But I visited their established, professionally designed website just to see what it looked like... and noticed that their primary product is misspelled in practically every instance on the main page. WTF.

If, for example, the name of the company is "Backup Widgets" (it isn't) then the word "widgets" would be misspelled as "wedgits" everywhere on the main page, including the title.

    Unfathomable.

    @IGBM Software:
Get rid of the wall of text, replace it with something like jpoag wrote, put a link to your website with a bunch of screenshots from the games you've done and then you may have an application. Even then, despite what you may think, you're at best a biscuit in a biscuit factory.

    @Maupin:
    You mean like flickr? :-P

    Default Gentlemen?

I truly appreciate all the kind responses. Honestly, you are completely correct; I should have made the layout of the request more professionally. It was rude of me to introduce myself and my company in that way. I should have at least made paragraphs. My apologies.

You currently will not see our website on Google or anywhere else. I had it taken down a while ago, because it simply was done poorly (perhaps a bit like my introduction, though the website was not done by myself). It seems that most information about us has disappeared from Google. We have been operating under the radar for a little over a year or so now. Admittedly, it does look less than professional and/or serious when you look at it in the respect (the fact that the website currently does not exist nor appears in web searches), but if the website wasn’t showing what we’re really about (or showing it in a truly poor manner), its probably doing more harm than good having it up, and so I took it down. With the “ramble” I was sincerely hoping to provoke some interest and questions, which it at least seemed to due the latter.

I did not want to write out the publishers names, for a few reasons. One of which is legal, a few of the companies have asked not to reveal ANY details to anyone who does not have anything to do with the games in question. The other reason is because not a lot of people believe you when you “name drop” large companies and accuse you of just trying to call attention to yourself.

    I’m advertising for positions of:

    • 3D modeler
    • 2D character artist
    • Game/Level Designer
    • C Sharp programmer

In return, I am offering payment (money to most).

Again, my sincerest apologies to those I’ve offended/angered. I had no intentions of doing so. I thank you for the constructive criticism, those that gave it. To those that responded with insults, acting unprofessional to an unprofessional post seems slightly hypocritical.
To finish this post, I will do as suggested. Any and all people honestly interested, please respond.

Hello IGBM Software... I'm very interested in the character artist position as well wish to help in any other way from graphic design to 3D modeling. Here's a thread that I already have on this site. Alternatively, you can just go straight to my professional website as well as look at some stuff I'm currently working on for Conflicting Kingdoms, a UK-based trading card game.

If my portfolio interests you, you can contact me at jrstoneart@aol.com.

Thanks and I look forward to the opportunity to be working with you.

    Sincerely,
    Jamie
