I said in some ways in my original post. I don't know the exact terminology. But basically, treat your plimus payment like you are treating royalties received from distributors. Again, you are not selling anything yourself, so you don't deal with all the VAT managment, and that is a good thing, don't you think :)

I agree with the license to resell since they are reseller but this has nothing to do with royalties.

I know that. The price the customer pays is higher, and that matters, surely? I don't think the customer cares that it's not the developer getting the money.

So with the extra VAT, they become less likely to purchase the software. That's the negative.
Here is how I understand it, at least in the country where I live:

If you are not VAT registered (which you can be under that treshold), you don't have to report and pay your income VAT to the state.
On the other hand, you still pay that VAT when buying from others, so it evens out.

When you're VAT registered, you have to report and pay your VAT to the state. But your business is exempt for paying VAT when buying from other businesses.

VAT is always there, wether obvious or not ;)

That's exactly like Vatina said. The EU companies can choose (at least in Poland that's how it work) if they are VAT payers or not. If they are, they have to add VAT to price of products and give it back to tax office. But only if their income (not profit) is smaller than some specific value. In the other case they have to be VAT payers. Period.

I have no idea if companies outside EU can use the same scenario or they are forced to add VAT in all cases. But even if they could decide, it's impossible that Plimus or other reseller will not be a VAT payer. They are selling a product, so it's their income that counts and it will exceed the limit for sure.

I've read somewhere (I think it was Plimus, but I'm not sure), that there's a possibility to take VAT on yourself, so buyer pays what he see on a chart, but the VAT is deducted from your royalty.

Absolutely the best software registration service, in my opinion.
You might not be aware of their huge security flaw :) Anybody can download all the files from your account on Plimus server just knowing the file names. I won't be describing it how it works step by step here but it does work :)
