best half hour I've spent all day.
Also, I got 862 on normal mode if anyone can beat that =P
I'm looking for feedback/ideas for a free, open source game I've been working on (similar to Eskiv).
Avoision is a very simple arcade game with 8-bit-inspired graphics, sound, and music; available for Windows and Linux. The object of the game is to move the green square and capture the red square before time runs out while avoiding white squares.

This game is intended to be a simple, casual game and it certainly won't appeal to everyone.
If anyone has ideas on how to add more depth/polish to the game, I'd love to discuss them. Based on previous feedback, here some ideas I've been tossing around:
1) Change scoring to encourage reckless abandon (e.g. make points decrease exponentially instead of linearly with time)
2) Add walls/obstacles (possibly moving)
3) Temporary power-ups
Without further ado:
Windows installer: http://sourceforge.net/projects/avsn...oision-0.5.msi
Source code (for Linux): http://sourceforge.net/projects/avsn/files
(Let me know if you have any trouble installing/running the game)

This is the kind of game where there's a lot of tweakables that could change the gameplay a lot. For example:
I've also seen versions of this kind of game that give you the ability to hop, which helps in dire circumstances. You could have an exhaustible # of hops, or like have a different color of food that gives you one hop or something like that, so players can't just always hop.
Adding multiplayer might be interesting. Have multiple players in the same arena competing to get to the same food. There could also be multiple foods out at the same time to make it interesting.
just a few ideas. Keep up the good work!
