    Default Annoying photoshop feature

When ever I draw close to the edge of the picture (about 3 or 4 pixels away) it will immediately draw a straight line to the edge. At the moment I'm trying out some pixel art is this is ruining it! Is there anyway to turn this off?

You have the grid enabled and snapping is on

You can enable/disable snapping with ctrl+# or under the view menu.

Btw for pixelart it's nice to have two views. One zoomed in and another with 1:1 pixels. You can add another view by clicking on view->new view.

While we're talking about annoying Photoshop features - is there a way to turn off that little envelope thing that appears in the top left corner of images? Ctrl-H does it but I'd like it off by default, it's bloody annoying.

View->show extras (or so)... that's the ctrl+h thing. Right below it is show (or so) where you can enable/disable individual extra thingies. The thing you mean is slices... just turn it off
