It's sad to think of Goldeneye as retro ;-)
for a game design competition that wanted a remake of a retro game, i decided to try my hands at recreating one of my first fpss, goldeneye64, so i spent the past 4 months learning multiplayer coding and created an 8 player remake of the goldeneye game, now, this is not perfect or bugfree but i've reached the deadline, theres a bug related to the animation but that is however a fault of the engine and i cant do much but wait for them to fix it, other than that, you can go here, read the thread and download the game:

and the update:

hopefully i can get some votes![]()

4 months sounds quite good for a one man effort. are you planning to keep the graphics that spartanic or are you going to continue working on it?
and I also find calling goldeneye a retro title a little keen![]()
well.. goldeneye was released 12 years ago, i also wondered if it were retro enough and so i made google did the talking, after seeing it under several retro pages, i decided i could do it, i MIGHT continue working on it after the contest but the deadline as already passed so i cant edit it now but might when the contest is over, who knows what i may convert it to, but either way, i do know that i wont spend too much time on it because i have a another game working on
heres the download link: http://www.filefront.com/15496141/Go...ntryfinal.rar/ and the NEEDED update:

I want to play. Now.
Other than the textures being the same as the first level, its not really anything to do with Goldeneye is it?
Even the level layout isn't the same (which is a pity because it was a good candidate for a multiplayer FPS).
Thinking a game of 12 years old as not being retro probably explains why so much 2D coder art games get announced on here.
Game looks like a good start, especially for the time investment.
A little buggy and I couldn't find to play, but still seemed like it would of been fun had I something to kill![]()
theres an update that you need to download:
go here:
http://www.opserver.de/ubb7/ubbthrea...=309214&page=1
or download the game from:
http://www.filefront.com/15496141/Go...ntryfinal.rar/
then update it manually with:
http://www.filefront.com/15468541/ge_update0.0.3.rar/
actually.. its alot more like goldeneye than you think, this wasnt a game that was modded to be goldeneye, its coded to be like it from the ground up, the weapons sound the same and behave as how they did, there are only two maps but they are 100% replicas of the GoldenEye
dont knock it till you try it
I agree with the above comments, this is looking pretty good for only four months work. Especially as you've been learning multiplayer coding at the same time.
I used to play this game to death on the N64. I hope you keep working on it![]()
