Default Whats the matter grandmas? Forgot to put in your teeth?

So I'm playing puppytron and there's no competition. Even the dude who made the game isn't giving me a hard time. Bunch of pansies...

    svero 535750
    twilight gamez 535150
    bleh 359050
    aid 238950
    onyx 223250
    aaronsullivan 205150
    cas 204200
    kong 186800

Could someone please bring it on? I'm getting bored beating my own score. A little competition please? The top 3 spots are me. And I'm pretty sure I could do better.

Now if only cas would add a feature to the game where one could view the highscores then we could make it really interesting. As it is it seems to let you enter your score and then display some random number of them.

Cas, (I may have missed this) but is there a reason the game seems to bomb out to the highscores upon reaching level 4? I'm running the downloadable version, and it doesn't always happen. Is it a registration thing?

Er yeah, there's a little bug. You might or might not notice the nag screen whizzing at you for almost 0.25 of a second before it goes to the hiscores table! I'll have to get that fixed.

When the demo times out it stops you playing after level 3. Hehehe.

Well in the interest of promoting a little competition I will tell you my secret. The trick is to kill all the robots before they kill you.

Is it just kind of advertising between developers or what?
Why don't make it by simple statement: these forums are sponsored by PuppyGames this month?

"Why" - you ask? Just caculate the messages in these forums devoted to that their last game - 200? more?. Isn't this becomes a little bit annoying or that just me Cas?

Should I calcualte your posts in that two hundreds Cas

C'mon just my vision on the problem. Just go and make good game (without that Java bullshit) an sell it for standard 19.95. I'm pretty sure that your team is much better than most of us here. So, just don't try to be too original right now - this is too annoying some times.

    Hope this helps...

Ok I'm dense - how the freak do you get 500,000? I can't even get 20,000 on level 5. It's so hard! I know you shoot the powerups to change the symbol, but even picking the $ sign only gives me 1000-odd points.

A 500k game plays to about level 20. Generally my strategy is...

    1) Collect 5 powerups
    2) Collect autofire until im at top speed
    3) Collect shields until im at top shield

Any shield collected beyond 10 shields results in a megabonus. They start at 1000 points and increase by 1000 every time you collect one unless you get hit. If you lose a shield it restarts.

To get that much score, generally it means taking no hits until you reach level 10 or 11 and collecting the higher end megabonuses. I'm quite sure I have a 600-800k game in me. My average game is 300k+

Holy crap you must have ninja dexterity!

Ok, I'm up for a challenge, lets see if I can wipe you off the top score (can I have a handicap for being over 30?)

I might be inclined to give you one but I'm well over 30 myself so...

Dangit! I figured I'd try my hand at Puppytron today, and I think I've found a good strategy.

I was about to break 200k when it crashed on me! I eventually determined that I can cause it to crash simply by stepping on one of the "smart bombs" when there are a large number of enemies on the screen. Does this happen to anyone else? You can do it on the first level simply by running around and around until there are a ton of enemies onscreen, and then stepping on a smart bomb.

If princec doesn't respond here, I guess I'll email support about it.

I use the smart bombs all the time. They're an important part of my strategy. I have had this crash happen to me once, but normally I don't see it. Current best is 833k, but I'm shooting for 1 million points + -- I think it's possible.

Smartbomb crash supposedly fixed... when did you download it? Try grabbing the latest version. The error is actually an out of memory error when it tries to decode the smartbomb OGG for the first time... I might increase it a wee bit more and upload a new one just to be absolutely sure.

I downloaded it a while ago, princec. I just hadn't really tried it yet.

I'll get the latest version and see how it goes Thanks!

I think I'll be buying it. Definitely a fun game, once you get into it!

svero, what's the current high score? It doesn't seem to want to show me the #1 spot... is there a way to make the high score list scroll up, or something? I just want to know what I'm shooting for (EDIT: Nevermind, I see you wrote above that 833k is the high score )

I was over 300k this time when it crashed. I think I would've been able to keep going for quite a while, too. I had lots of shield, and was at full firing rate... I just stepped on a smartbomb by accident

I'll put in page up / down on the hiscores sooner or later. Otherwise you're stuck with it displaying your best score and the 5 either side of it.

    Default What gives?

I had my first somewhat decent game today, scored 683k (I think that's what it was...) and it looks like it placed me at #1? What happened to svero's scores?

The in-game scores are only held for 7 days. They're still recorded for all time though - Chaz'll put it up on the site when he's got a bit of spare time.

683 is very respectable. Course I can't have you sitting there in the number one spot even if it is a 7 day score.. I'll have to do something about that.
