Default Crazy good deal from Steam

File this under "Time Management (Destruction Of)".

Valve is selling the Orange Box on Steam for $9.99 this weekend. If you haven't heard of it before, it combines Half Life 2 (and the expansions), Portal, and Team Fortress 2 all in one package.

I'm 250 hours into Team Fortress 2 and wishing I could stop. :| Even for the $50 I paid for Orange Box, that's the best $-per-hour value I've ever had from a game. But definitely my biggest productivity killer!

I just wish that meant they were gearing up to release Episode 3.

I am also getting close to 150 hours into Team Fortress 2. It really is a superb package, I bought it for Portal and stayed for TF2.

While on the topic of Steam, production killers and good $:value ration, anyone who hasn't played Beyond Good and Evil (like me) should get it ASAP (like i did yesterday :-P). Its just five euros (or $ or whatever your local currency is - yes i know... ) and its one of the best story-driven action games i've played.

BG&E... You would not believe how many people I tried to sell that game to over the Christmas season that year. Such a tragedy...

    Thumbs up

Love the juice of the orange box, didn't really get the excitement over team fortress 2 though (prior to the updates etc), just kept getting owned with no tutorial or single player for guidance (like unreal tournament). Maybe it's better now with the updates and all?

Beyond Good and Evil easily one of thee most underated game's of our time, there was a trailer a ubidays some time ago that suggested another was in the works though

Thanks for reminding me of the orange box deal this weekend. Someone told me at work, and I have forgot to snag it.

Though, I own HL2, and Portal already...gotta find some one who wants those as gifts... Everyone I know has these already!

BG&E, try to find a console version if you can. The PC version has no gamepad support (unless they've released a patch since. Dunno, I have both PC and xbox versions). I had a wee bit of luck with some keyboard to gamepad mapping software but it was pretty buggy. I'm thrilled that they have it so cheap and available but the console version is really the easiest one to endorse.

oh yeah, and brilliant game. The sequel has been in dev for almost two years now? should be another...eh 2 years for it's release

Yup, awesome deal and everyone is sure to find at least ONE game they like out of that bunch. And who seriously doesn't like Portal?

I still don't understand why the cake is a lie.

However Portal is something to try.

Honestly -and i'm ashamed of that- i saw the game mentioned many times, i've read good comments about it, everyone said how great it is (even Yahtzee had a positive comment to say - which is why i decided to take a look at some point since i agree 99% with his opinions about games), etc yet i didn't buy it so far because all i would see in the screenshots were a pig, a girl or a pig and a girl and a whole lot of blurry green scenery with stretched textures and it looked like one of the many forgettable console games for PS2.

And then i bought it because i was bored and wanted to buy something cheap.

And i realized how wrong i was. Except for the blurry green scenery, but thats ok :-P.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I've almost popped for the PC version several times; now I'll check on Ebay for the PS2 version.

Hmm... I could go for some replica sneakers myself.

Wait... hold on... they don't sell shoes on Steam!

I've got to second (or third ) the post about BG&E! I bought the Ubi pack through Steam for that alone. The sad thing is, the game seems horribly buggy on my PC. That's okay, because getting Dark Messiah of Might & Magic was pleasant surprise that more than made up for the issues I had. Like AnthemAudio said, for anyone wanting some BG&E goodness, it is highly recommended that you pick up the PS2 version!

Don't get me started on TF2... So many, many hours into that brilliant game.
