Thanks for the stats Juuso and Cliff.

Shouldn't this be published somewhere under Indie Chat? Or Indie Business perhaps?

What do you announce after all?
What the latest changes in the forums were implemented for?

Quite true. I've been so long on these boards that the recent sections change hasn't yet been registered by my brain.

    My bad.

I guess the feedback forum should be News and Feedback, it's the best place for news if you want eyeballs anyway, because it's one of the most visited forums on the site.

I totally disagree. So did most of guys who said the word of support for separated Feedback Request forum.
I believe this forums just started to work properly being cleaned from all that "Hey, look at my blog!" messages. You should be noticed this too.

So I ask you either remove this thread from here and change the description and rules of Feedback Request forum or open a poll to ask the opinion of all another developers again.

I think this should belong to Indie Business. Sales = money = business no?

I bought a copy of Kudos:Rock Legends which made it my first casual game purchase a few days ago. Before that, I couldn't find myself reaching for the wallet after the 1 hour trial period.

Agreed. I think the Feedback forum should be only for feedback of software in development.

Looking at it from another point of view - do we really need to be bombarded with links every time something new gets added to gameproducer.net? Why not just set up a mailing list?

    Moved.

I agree that its not really a feedback request.

But I think frankly, its interesting from a business standpoint, so I dont agree that its really a thing to big up gameproducer.net (might do that, but I think its worthy and interesting by itself).

I agree that data Juuso collects from the developers are pretty well connected to the business part.

Though let all another bloggers publish their so called news in the Indie Related Chat forum. I believe this is exactly the place for their excersises.

Again I've noticed pretty wealthy changes in the discussions here by latest week. So let we don't break this positive direction again.

Great to hear that Cliff's fine gesture about sharing sales statistics somehow transformed into discussion about "gameproducer.net changes bombarding" and discussion "where this thread should locate"...

Thanks zoombapup for moving this to appropriate forum. I try to get my brain understand the forum sections better next time.

Anyway... back to the topic: Thanks Cliff for sharing the stats, and thanks Andy for your comments.

Cliff said the sales were "worse than he would have thought", but since portals are not there and the game has sold thousand copies already, that's very nice income in my books.

Now I just wonder what will be next... Kudos: Movie Stars?

Pardon for derailing your thread Juuso!
But hopefully you understand and agree with our -developer's- preoccupation about current situation in the forums.

One more time thanks a lot for useful data.

Would imagine portal sales will add nicely as it did and still doing nicely here. According to game-sales-charts wasn't as sustained as Kudos but still not bad at all. Personally think a more simple name like "Rock Legend" may have been more appealing to users as how many users really know the "Kudos" brand? Anyhow probably did the trick for your direct users.

It's of interest to many in this community to see what others can do particularly since most don't state #s publicly. These were previously posted in the Announcements forum which seemed fine and appropriate, but here's fine also.

btw - congrats on another success Cliff.

Just to explain why I moved it, I think it pertains more to business because it will hopefully give other people a picture of potential sales figures for at least one style of game.

And its not really an announcement (you would announce the game for instance, not that it has sold something )

I wonder if youre right about that name thing. I dont really know if that would be the case, because its a pretty niche type of game. Would the "kudos" thing deter people? I think its kind of unlikely, but would need to a/b test it to really know.

Cliffy, are you tracking where your direct sales learn about the product? I guess I should track down where your advertising (I've got a design for a product that might well hit your target audience).

Well deserved success to Cliffski. I love the fact that you do your own thing, build the games you want to play and are making money doing it. Keep it up. Your an inspiration for the rest of us.
