    Default Interesting Casual RPG Idea

I ran across this idea while visiting Insert Credit but it struck me as such a great idea for a casual game that I wanted to mention it here.

The background is that Insert Credit posted a story about the folks at EasyGameStation having a new game coming out where you run an item shop. To me that sounds like such a great idea for a casual game - somewhat like a Diner Dash meets RPG only instead of you being the warrior that goes out and slays monsters, you are the owner of the item/weapon store that services warriors.

I could imagine there being all kinds of interesting game mechanics such as:
    1) having to go out into forests and other areas to collect basic elements and potion components
    2) keeping up a garden in the back of the store to grow elements
    3) sending Warriors on "quests" to procure item components you need to forge potions, weapons, etc.
    4) hire a mercenary to "protect you" as you venture out to find particularly rare items
    5) trading with other item shops nearby or even competing with them

I believe that these are things that the game they mention is going to do, but that does not mean that someone else might not also do this or make it more "casual" ..

Here's the trailer for the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOw620Bh7NY

And here's the main site: http://egs.cug.net/circle/recet/index.html

So, why am I posting this? Well it's such a great idea that I think it's definitely "clone" worthy or even worth creating variations on...

I do agree, it's an interesting idea but I'm kind of curious why you aren't doing it up ...

I'd love to work on a project like this, but between RL and other side projects it'd be hard to start something new.

yep, though I hope the clones wouldnt be in manga style...

...also a good excuse to use some good humor inside the genre... (ie: GAs style... ) ...and a good occassion to exhibit drawing skills.

I love the idea of a weapons store. I could see a lot of humor in some of the patrons and the items that they buy.

Maybe it's funny to us who have played rpg's and seen those stores, but I'm not sure how much someone who's just into casual games would relate, unless you make it a fantasy version of DinerDash. It might take a bit of putting it in context to make sure the humor works.
